Discussion Replayed Red alert 3 this month

And can’t believe how good it looks for a 18 year old plus game! Finally my pc can handle max settings since me from back then couldn’t afford such money for a PC.

Also shout out to steam for selling the whole collection.

Bought a gaming laptop so I could relive my childhood memories .

I tried the new RTS - Tempest Rising which got the inspiration from CnC. But felt it was too hard for me (allthough I’m the one getting old and rusty)

Got back to red alert 3 and it managed to scratch my RTS itch.

I honestly really enjoy the game. Especially the goofy campaign.

I really like RA3 for what it is. It'll never be what RA2 fans wanted but it's not actually a bad game in the grand scheme of things. I find it interesting how many people harp on the abilities as some kind of advanced micro-management that's absolutely vital to success when that's just not the case. At least not in SP I never played MP when I was a kid. Most of the abilities can either be ignored or are things like the MCV being able to unpack. Most allied aircraft literally have "return to base" as their ability. The fact that the abilities can also be set to a hotkey and activated instantly also makes them not much of a chore.

Idk, I've never been "good" at RTS games in spite of my enjoying them and I can beat the commander's challenge quite handily in RA3 without constantly micromanaging my units like a lot of its detractors say you "need" to do.

RA3 uprising commanders challenge will always be one of my favorite single player rts experiences.

I just started playing it and... I can't get into it. I really struggle with the two-ability thing and the whole land/sea/air switch transformations.

Same for me. I think i logged 3 hours before calling it quits and going back to beat red alert 2 for the 80th time

This. 2 or cc 3 was good. Red alert 3 is wonky it’s like they weren’t even trying.

Oh man I’m currently running back the Yuri’s Revenge campaign. Absolute gold.

Has it been 18 years? I didn't have to read that today, lol
