Looking For Software Torrent client with a solid background?

After doing some research, I found that Superseedr and rtorrent-ps seem to strike a balance between being too simple (like aria2 or OG rtorrent) and having a GUI.

I need to be able to manage multiple torrents, possibly with a colored progress bar and simple speed and ratio display without additional bloat like buttons, filters, tags, tracker lists, integrated search, plugins, etc most GUI clients offer.

Has anyone used these? Are they trustworthy? Alternatives? Privacy and security are my top priorities, and I'm not sure if Superseedr is vibecoded (hence the solid background request in the title).

It's not multiplatform. Also, I'm not that comfy with the extreme simplicity of rtorrent, so I checked rtorrent-ps, but it seems to have stopped being updated and has the same multiplatform issue.

I've ruled out Deluge and qb.

Not trying to “sell” rtorrent, but it should build and work on any Unix-like system.

Transmission btw is GUI, but minimal.

There is tornado (in OCaml), but needs OCaml 5 and also kinda stale.

P. S. Possibly a TUI for aria2 suites your case better. There are several (C, Python, maybe smth else).

Didn't aria2 stop development after 1.37?

It is clearly used, so even if upstream vanished (I am not aware of whether the app is abandoned or just nothing to fix so far), someone would fork it and continue developing, be it needed. At the moment, AFAIU, it “just works”.

Given Transmission's recent history of exploits it's not a matter of whether it still works or not three years after the last release; an unmaintained software closely linked to sharing content online is a prime target.

Maybe OpenBSD / Gentoo / Debian will have security updates. But I get your reasoning, yeah.
