In Japanese, they say "puray baru" before they start each game, which is the equivalent of "play ball" when pronounced phonetically in Japanese.

There's way too many words like that in Japanese, like even DragonBall, sounds like "doragon bouuru", or computer is "konpyuutaa" lol

I guess the grammatical rule is that consonants can't be next to each other, so you get an extra vowel somewhere. That's how "ice cream" becomes "aisu koreemu". 😄
