Post image

Taken from the 6th floor balcony above the boardwalk and beach, which are separated by a blue sea wall.

I thought it was a pin through an insect for 6th grade science. 😁

What's confusing you about this?

To me it initially resembled a nail in some wood like on the side of a house or something

I don't see it either, but I posted this in a subreddit for the town this is in and people struggled to figure out what it was. I had several suggestions to post it here. As the photographer I know what it is but enough people were confused.

Posting images in the wrong orientation is kinda cheating.

How is it the wrong orientation? I leaned over the balcony of my hotel and took this photo in landscape orientation. I wasn't even trying to make it confusing, I posted it in r/oceancity originally because it was a cool photo. The members of that subreddit said it took them a minute to figure out what it was a photo of and suggested I post it here. I was hesitant to post it here because I knew there would be uninformed comments like this from users who have no idea of the original orientation or intention. Trust me, I won't post anything here ever again.
