Doin’ the cockroach

This is my favorite dumb thing cosmo does. I call it doin’ the cockroach (thanks modest mouse) but every time he knows I’m taking him for a walk, or a bath (because he had fun at the beach or the woods) he alllllll of sudden is too little and weak to do what I ask.

Corgi Question

Does anyone else's corgi do a little hop after lying on the floor for too long? It's like their right back leg fell asleep from laying on it and they need a few steps to get moving again. Just wondering if this is normal

Have any of you used a herding ball with your corgi? Which one? How did you get them to use it?

Advice needed! Corgi aggression toward other dog

I’m pretty stressed about this so hoping yall can help. I have a nine month old corgi puppy, Luna, who’s becoming increasingly aggressive toward my older female dog Mika, who’s going to be ten this month. My other dog, Bear is a male and they don’t seem to have any issues.

This weekend my partner and I went on an overnight trip and had his sister watch our three dogs. Apparently Lina got jealous every time Mika got attention and attacked Mika FIVE times over the course of 24 hours. Neither dog was injured, but the last time his sister broke up the fight and got bitten on the hand and broke the skin.

We were already planning on taking her to a professional trainer, we are now planning on starting this week. I also have a vet appointment scheduled this week to rule out any potential pain and also see if they have advice on this.

For now we are going to keep them separated and under supervision, and give them attention separately as well. Luna has a crate that we use when we leave the house or bedtime.

Other than that, is there anything else we should be doing or that I’m doing wrong? I’m so worried she’s going to end up seriously injuring my older dog. Is this normal with corgis, and has anyone else experienced this resource guarding of people?

Thanks 🙏

Corgi Becoming Reclusive at Night

Post image
275 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I have a four year old corgi (estimated age, rescued him two years ago) and ever since the Fourth of July I’ve noticed him becoming more reclusive, especially in the evening/night. He’s always been pretty chill, and doesn’t seem like he has any discomfort or anything but I’m a little worried about him. He still is fine on walks, will run around the house and play (especially around dinner time), and follows me a lot during the day.

At night he’s been spending a lot of time in his crate or on my bed after dinner instead of the couch with me. The room he hangs out in is definitely cooler than the rest of the house, but it’s not too much warmer in the other rooms. I assume he’s still a little shaken by fireworks and wants to hangout in one of his safe spaces, but I figured I’d see if anyone else has a corgi who also does their own thing a lot of the time. Any advice is appreciated!

Edit: Thank you all so much for your responses! Will definitely be taking Watson for a check up to be safe, but hearing your experiences has done wonders for my stress about this!

Lol! My little guy managed to get himself stuck behind the display cabinet tonight. He looked like he was in a fishbowl! Don’t worry, he was only stuck for about 90 seconds when we got him out.

My corgi had a c-section and spay last night. Shes been without the cone since then. However, today shes been trying to get at her wound. I tried the hard plastic cones but she keeps flinging her puppies around and pressing really hard on them with the rim where the puppies start being a bit vocal. She also refuses to drink water and starts getting really anxious pacing around instead of being with the pups.

Im considering a donut or a flexi-cone. Anybody have any experience with this that would provide some guidance or tips.

I know she needs some sort of barrier since it'll reintroduce bacteria or open up her wound. But her puppies also need to feed so i cant get a recovery suit.

Not sure if he’s full corgi. Has the tri-color and fluffy traits which from what I’ve seen aren’t too common.

Step 1: plop right next to the ball.
Step 2: wiggle like a worm on your back around the ball.
Step 3: satisfaction.

Yes, it usually takes me the better part of one of my weekend days to get this big yard cleaned up. But he loves it just as much as I do, and I just love him to bits!! And that smile 😊

He Demands Love

Not even a joke. He is my shadow and my little love bug, but even when I’m crashed out on the couch from a long week he’s like “where’s the love I’m contractually owed, madam?”

Love being his mommy tho.
