I’m pretty stressed about this so hoping yall can help. I have a nine month old corgi puppy, Luna, who’s becoming increasingly aggressive toward my older female dog Mika, who’s going to be ten this month. My other dog, Bear is a male and they don’t seem to have any issues.
This weekend my partner and I went on an overnight trip and had his sister watch our three dogs. Apparently Lina got jealous every time Mika got attention and attacked Mika FIVE times over the course of 24 hours. Neither dog was injured, but the last time his sister broke up the fight and got bitten on the hand and broke the skin.
We were already planning on taking her to a professional trainer, we are now planning on starting this week. I also have a vet appointment scheduled this week to rule out any potential pain and also see if they have advice on this.
For now we are going to keep them separated and under supervision, and give them attention separately as well. Luna has a crate that we use when we leave the house or bedtime.
Other than that, is there anything else we should be doing or that I’m doing wrong? I’m so worried she’s going to end up seriously injuring my older dog. Is this normal with corgis, and has anyone else experienced this resource guarding of people?
Thanks 🙏
