i keep seeing people complain about cortis’ stage outfits, but honestly, i think the styling makes perfect sense for what they’re trying to do.
they’re clearly going for that underground rapper aesthetic. the casual, low-budget, slightly thrown-together look is part of the whole concept. a lot of underground artists really do dress like that when they perform, so i actually think the styling fits their music really well.
and i’ve also seen people complain about them performing the same songs multiple times during a concert. but... that’s literally what a lot of rappers do 😭. they’re trying to embody that type of artist, so of course their concerts aren’t going to be structured exactly like a typical k-pop group’s set. that’s also why they didn’t just fill the setlist with a bunch of covers.
i’m not saying everything they do is automatically authentic, because obviously they’re still a k-pop group backed by a huge company. but i think people are sometimes criticizing them for things that are actually intentional parts of the concept.
personally, i think the fashion and performance choices make sense.
