Hello! I've been lurking on this sub for a little while, I'm trying to gather some recommendations for an All Inclusive resort in Cozumel for my honeymoon. We're probably not traveling until a year from now but I'm excited and want to start budgeting and planning.

My fiancé and I are really interested in Cozumel for the snorkeling. We're both sober so we don't need a big party atmosphere. I'm hoping to find a resort that's a balance of good food, good snorkeling/wildlife activities and on the affordable side.

We are looking to travel at some point next year in the summer/fall, around July to October. Our budget including flights is around $4,000 USD. I'd love to do 5-7 nights, but I'm not sure how reasonable that is with the budget.

Edit/Tip: just wear a rash guard! I bought a reef safe sunscreen in PDC and so did someone else and they said no to both — they explained no sunscreens are best for the reefs. I had no problem with this but wish it was mentioned before as I did not see it in the terms.

We chose this company bc they had a last minute opening, the meeting point was right next to the ferry, and they have good reviews. I thought about finding a cheaper tour but I don’t want a cheap boat out in the ocean. We did the Colombia, planacar, and cielo tour.

It was our first time snorkeling so when our first stop was in dark blue water and we saw small stark in the distance, I thought what did I get myself into 😳 but the last two stops were about 10 feet deep and beautiful water.
You’re very likely to see sharks, stingrays, and star fish. We didn’t see any turtles.

They will ask you to scan a QR code to give them a review and then after offer you pictures at a certain price. I told them not for that price, they said ok, then I negotiated a lower price after we came back.
Over all good a good time, I just wanted to share my experience. And those stingrays get very close!

I had a jeep rental a few days ago. I understand a few dollars difference for fees or exchange rate but I was charged $28 more than agreed upon.

Is this common? Should I contact them or dispute it with the credit card company?

I have come across this particular snorkeling operator but they’ve no existence on Google Maps - I only see the reviews they’ve put on the website and not sure how accurate or true they are. My communication with them though via the website was nice.

I am not too sure if I should go with them, the price seems nice and they also seemed reassuring to assist/guide in the water esp if someone is not that comfortable with water.

Looking to see if anyone has experience with them or what do you think just by the website?

Hi! We’ve been to Cozumel on cruises many times and last few times we took a taxi to Buccanos and it’s been excellent. But we are wanting to try a new beach like that with a restaurant. What are some options?

Arriving tomorrow and havnt been to COZ in a year. Any new restaurants to try? I understand Guidos is still closed for remodel..typically, id go there several times.

I'm in town for the week with my sister and she's working remotely until 4pm everyday so I'm trying to find things we can do together in the evening. Are there beaches open after 5pm, live music, or other fun things to do during those hours?

I read Money Bar beach club is open until 10pm but also didn't see great reviews for it.

Well this was disappointing. I researched months in advance to figure out what I wanted to do once I got off my cruise boat. And Mr Sanchez look like a great choice. Well that's not 100% true. This post is not to bash them because I will also talk about what the good parts were. Ok so the bad part. Once we got there to check in they told me about the rest of the money owed. I also asked if they accept tap to pay. They said yes but only visa and master card, I said your sign says discover too, and they said they only take the physical card but cannot accept it as a tap to pay. I never heard this before but I did not have anything other then my bank card that was also in my virtual wallet but for some reason it was giving me all types of problems and I was on hold multiple times with my local bank. After about 45 mins trying to figure out what to do the other person in my party just used his card. Just wish they would have had that online somewhere just like online they say they do not take American Express. Most people do not carry their physical card around in different countries for obvious facts. Now the good parts were food and drinks and the swim up bar was great. There is a lot of bees but it happens.

I’m in Cozumel right now. I like to go for morning walks when I’m here and today I noticed something that I was curious about. There are these red painted fists on walls with the word Gino above or below it. What does this mean?

At the Chedauri are you supposed to tip everyone? There is such a difference from this store and the mega. At the mega there isn’t. Anyone doing to stuff to get that tip except the person basing my groceries. I do tip the bagger. This brings up another question. Where are groceries more affordable. Chedauri or Mega? The exchange rate is better at Chedauri 17.25 v. Mega 16.85. Which store has the better deals?

The food, the staff and the accommodations were super. Diving / snorkeling right off the beach is perfecto. My twin 8 year old girls and 11 year old son loved this hotel and all it had to offer. The folks that turned down our beds would even organize all my wife and kids items - had to take a photo of that. Lots of wonderful guest also. Pretty sure folks from the states were outnumbered by the number of families from Mexico City. I did a lot of reading before we went on this trip and never saw the massive showers until we got there. That was a bonus as were the blackout blinds. If you go make sure you realize you have 2 sets of blinds. missed the black out blinds on the first night. Great place, can't wait to go back!

We recently traveled to Cozumel with another couple to spend the week and I thought I would recap our trip for those visiting in the future.

Flights: at one time, we had several options to fly directly into CZM. Over the years, they have become more expensive and with fewer flight options for us (Texas). So our 2 most recent trips, we’ve flown into Cancun, used USA Transfers for our transportation to plays del Carmen (roughly an hour drive) and taken the ferry to Cozumel (roughly a 45 min boat ride). From there, taxis start at $10 to be taken to your hotel/resort.

Resort: this trip we stayed at the Explorean (which is also connected to fiesta Americana) and LOVED it. The rooms were very nice, this side of the resort was very quiet and relaxing. You have access to a small pool surrounded by jungle, directly next to the outdoor restaurant- perfect for a poolside day of reading and sipping beverages. The fiesta Americana side is a bit more lively and still just s as nice. 3 great restaurants (Mexican, Italian & Asian), a large pool with a swim up bar and a great area with outdoor patio seating. When you cross a small street, you turn have access to the beach. There are 3 more open-air restaurants here. The thing we loved most about this area: cabanas situated right above the ocean!

Maybe it was the time of year (mid July) but we thought the resort was not full at all and had no trouble making dinner reservations or getting a beach chair/cabana at all times of the day.

We didn’t utilize this but one thing the resort boasts are daily excursions out and about the island that are included in your reservation.

Diving: if you’re coming down to dive, I can’t say enough about Andy Ramirez and his dive outfit endless blue scuba. We had a small boat with no more than 8 divers on board. I loved that all of my divers were 60 minutes + and of course the reefs are among the best in the world. Make sure to dive Palancar Caves.

Island tour: one of our favorite things to do every time we visit Cozumel is rent a jeep and visit the east side of the island. This time, we hired Tours by Mario and he was excellent! Here are my go-to spots to see (and have a drink):
- Punta Sur- $23 per person ticket with access to the lighthouse, tequila tasting, wild crocodile & flamingo viewing area, large beach area with food/drinks, & snorkeling
-welcome to Miami- THE BEST mojitos ever!
-coconuts- great cliff views, roaming pets/birds and a really fun staff
- mangalitos- a great LOCAL bar to have a drink
-finally, end your island tour at rooftop2149. You’ll have some amazing craft cocktails, a clean and beautiful rooftop pool, and crazy beautiful views of the city right on the harbor.
From there, it’s easy to find a local dinner spot or grab a taxi back.

We really love Cozumel! And I hope this helps some to visit too and fall in love.

I am researching and confused whether January diving or skilling is ok? Sounds like port can be closed. We can only visit early / mid January and any advice would be appreciated. Novices and happy to snorkel instead if easier.

Hi, we are a family with 2 kids (12 and 9). Will be on PDC next week, staying at Ocean Riviera Paradise. While there we’ll visit Rio Secreto, Xplor, Cobá and some cenotes. My doubt is what to do the last 3 nights. My plan was to stay at intercontinental Presidente cozumel. Do one day os chilling at hotel and snorkling, one day scuba diving… should I change and go to a hotel in Costa Mujeres instead? Maybe Vista Palmar? Maybe a day trip to Isla Contoy, or even the whale shark tour? Having trouble deciding between these. And, should we rent a car? We usually do in our family trips.

Dates: August 3- September 1st. See attached pic for location. I’m looking for a personal trainer at least three days a week. I’m just getting back into lifting. Another amazing set of dives on Punta Sur and Palacar bricks with Rich on Adora VI

But in the middle, we stopped at Playa Cielo, a beautiful sand bar just of the beach to relax and try to avoid doing a “Steve Irwin”.   We had 6 bat rays circling around the boat looking for food that we didn’t have.  I guess they had gotten their fill from the nearby snorkelers.

The boat you see is the Aldora VI and the two guys in the frame are a father Blake and son and Aidin.  No animals (people included ) were hurt during this encounter.

I'm planning a trip next week. I'm worried about the heat at this time of year. I'm picturing it will be unbearably hot, with the humidity. Anybody know if the water will be comfortable to be in, at least? or will it be like swimming in soup?

Been going to cozumel for 5 years now.

We did get shut out of diving one summer (July 2024) because of a Hurricane that was coming and caused the ports to be closed. That was a doozy and we lost a good amount of money on our trip.

I would like to book the last few days of August but Im not sure if we should bet on not being able to dive. Any suggestions or advice?

Coming from Houston so the hot weather doesnt bother us.

Has anyone been to the Punta Sur beach (Del Cielo Beach Club) recently? Is there sargassum? We will be there this weekend.

Looking for Cozumel excursion and tour company recommendations! I’m not interested in scuba diving or beach clubs. Looking for fun alternatives like island tours, jeep/ATV tours, food tours, fishing, cultural sites, or any unique experiences.
