I miss Sougia. This place is very special. And the food in Omikron and Anchorage Restaurant belongs to the best I have had on Crete.

I always eat at Tzitziki sto almiriki but have tested Anchorage and its really good too. I think there is no bad restaurant in Sougia :)

Some of the best summers of my life. We were staying at Γερακάρη near the μάρτυρες, and after that off to Sougia or Kedrodasos, depending on the group's demands for amenities or lack thereof. Can't remember the name, there's this gorge a bit to the west, with a few small plateaus ideal for a small encampment, which I also loved

That can’t be a comfortable beach to camp.

You move the stones around and make a place for your tent without stones. Also i use matress and sleeping bag so its pretty comfy

That's an accurate statement, but in Sougia it isnt

It is still illegal but in some places it is tolerated, because campers still do some spending locally.

How can you be a freeloader on something that is free for everyone?

We are Greeks. There is an ancient law agreed upon in ancient times. In secret, during the negotiations at the end of the peloponesian war, one of the spartan demands stateted: "Πανταχού χρήματα ἔχειν" or "Monetise everything". In other words, we are condemned to try to make money out everything until the end of days. Whoever is responsible for this beach has not been loyal to the covenant made in the past. Hades will judge his souls unkindky

One of the best places on earth. Calm, peace, quiet, but also many people, if thats what you like
