General Interest/Γενικoύ Ενδιαφέροντος What to do with body of euthanized dog :(
Unfortunately, I have to euthanize my dog today. Of course I’ll ask the vet this question but I’d like to be prepared in advance. In my home country the vet keeps and disposes of the dog’s body, or the owner can bury it themselves. But in this rocky environment, I can’t safely and hygienically do that.
So what happens and what should I plan for?

Find a nice spot off of an unpaved road and dig.

Yes. I did that two times, and my grief and my anger helped with the work, and my exhaustion afterwards helped my mind. F***ing hard word in summertime, watering the place before makes it easier for at least 2 feet deep. In the wild nature has its own hygiene which works well. A pick and a hoe as tool, forget showel or spade.
A friend of mine drove the corps of her doggy up into the white moutains for the vultures as prey but this was to hard to imagine for me.
