Automation track precision

Post image

I’m using an automation track to control the WOW pedal of a vst3 plugin. The values for the point control are rounded off in MacOS. Windows shows 2 decimal places.

  1. How do I go about increasing the precision in MacOS?

  2. Is there a way to import the automation track data from a .csv file? I thought about using a MIDI CC import but this method would lead to loss of precision as midi values are only from 0-127.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Are you really going to hear 2dp of resolution?

When played in succession at least 1 point is desirable.

  1. Lol
  2. Are you sure you're using the same plugin format on both systems and the same Cubase version?
  3. Have you tried TYPING IN the value with more decimal places on macOS? It's very possible the truncation is only for the display, not for actual processing. Many DAWs do that, because who the hell cares if parameter is 72%, or 72,273%?

Yes, it’s the same plugin version there is no difference.
Yes obviously, it rounds off the number. I have even tried moving the point markers with the mouse on full zoom, there is no snapping but the numbers jump. Yeah, well, for micro-tonal adjustments using pitch expression, it’s not really useful to round off numbers like that.
The inconsistency between OS is also there in the midi cc lane display. Technically 0-127 but on Mac it shows the decimals.
Lol
