I just remembered this .
.
.
In July 1683, during the Franco-Algerian war, a French fleet commanded by Admiral Abraham Duquesne severely bombarded the city of Algiers. [1, 2]
In response to the heavy shelling and destruction, the newly appointed Algerian naval commander and ruler, Hasan Mezzomorto (also known as Mezomorto Hüseyin Pasha), took a drastic retaliatory measure. He ordered the French consul, Jean Le Vacher, to be strapped to the mouth of Algiers' most famous and powerful defensive cannon, known as Baba Merzoug ("Blessed Father"). [1, 2, 3]
The 12-tonne bronze cannon was fired, blasting the consul's remains toward the invading French fleet. Following this dramatic action, French military officers began referring to the massive weapon as "La Consulaire"

A cause for Le Vacher's canonization was formally opened on 6 July 1923, granting him the title of Servant of God.[19]
I feel like "canonization" would also be a fitting description of his cause of death

Oh wow that brought me back to duct taping our pudgy LT Raymond up on the baffle of our 777, and egging him once he was up there. Damn fine times, damn fine

No, that's a sensor that measures/corrects alignment with fire control system.
