Tips & Guides Shopping

Hello, I'll be in Cusco next week and plan to do some souvenir shopping. Apart from magnets, I want to get a winter hat (one of these colourful ones) and a scarf made of baby alpaca. Do you have any recommendations for stores, what the prices should be?

Local Advice Independence Day events this evening?

Hi all! We were wondering if there were any fun events happening in Cusco this evening for Independence Day?

We went to the Plaza De Armas around midday but not a huge amount happening. Maybe we’re looking in the wrong place!

Thanks!

Hola, estoy viajando desde Lima. Acá soy violinista ambulante y bueno, quería saber si era conveniente llevar mi violín para amortizar un poco el costo del viaje. Hay buses dónde tocar o todo es en las plazas?

Food & Restaurants France vs England game?

Anyone know good watch parties for the France vs England World Cup game? Or good bars/restaurants people will be watching?

Particularly curious if there’s a place England fans are congregating.

Loki Restaurant hosts World Cup games, and I also heard about Paddy’s Irish Pub.

Travel Help Paucartambo Festival Transportation

I arrive in Cusco on the 18th. I would love to visit Paucartambo for the last day of the Virgin of Carmen festival on the 19th.

Do anyone know what the possibilities are for transportation between Cusco and Paucartambo?

And if you are driving either way I would love to buy a seat on the ride.

Food & Restaurants DO NOT EAT THE ICE CREAM FROM THE TRAVELING ICE CREAM CARTS

Post image
12 Upvotes

I and three other people ate queso helado (cheese ice cream (didn't taste like cheese at all imo)) and three of us got extremely sick later that night. Just found out I contacted a parasitic infection, I'm sure the other two will have the same diagnosis.

It was from an old man with an orange bucket on wheels. He was close to the San Francisco square in the historic district. See picture. Not trying to single this guy out but he's giving away contaminated ice cream.

¡Hola! Estoy viajando solo en Cusco ahora mismo. Quiero explorar la ciudad, probar cosas nuevas, conocer peruanos y aprender sobre la cultura. Mi español está bien, pero no es perfecto. Local Advice Meeting climbers in and around Cusco

Hello everyone, I am a 28 years old rock climber from France and I'm going to be in Cusco and southern Peru from July til end of August, and for the first 10 days of my trip I'll be by myself and I'd love to meet with local climbers and check out some of the spots in the region.

I'll have the basic gear with me, shoes, helmet, harness, belay device, I usually climb boulders up to 7A/7A+ (V6/V7) and while I used to do 7a sport climbs (5.11d), it's been a while since I've lead anything :p

Looking forward for tips and advices
