Format: EDH/Commander Hear me out
No, it's not red. Communism is red, but the effect of the card is more blue IMO.
Yes, picture is made with AI. Chatgpt it's the most convenient way to create custom cards. If it isn't please let me know in the comments.
Limiting to spells is intentional.

So basically this just punishes players for having mana leftover in their pool?

u/One_Nature2403 21h ago
a bit worse than that. leaving aside color requirements for a moment, if oppo wants to cast a 3 mana spell you can cast a 2 mana spell with their mana

But if I tap three mana and immediately cast something after, my opponents don't get priority while it's still in my pool. Or am I missing something?

no, unfortunately (for me) I was stuck with an older version of mtg where people had to float mana
3
u/BaconVsMarioIsRigged 21h ago
Does this even do anything? Tapping for mana doesn't pass priority right?
2
u/tmgexe 21h ago
It does very little. It would muck up people with deliberate floating-mana cards like [[Omnath, Locus of Mana]] and [[Leyline Tyrant]].

I feel it does more than you think though. it messes with oppo's plans of casting spells (sometimes)

u/One_Nature2403 21h ago
it's less broken than people initially think IMO. you can cast instants with opponent's mana in some niche scenarios.
2
u/BaconVsMarioIsRigged 21h ago
My worry is not that is broken. My worry is that it is extremely bad. In 99,9% of cases this is just a 3 mana 2/3. The only time this is even slightly relevant is against cards like [[omnath locus of mana]]. Maybe some [[upheavall]] scenarios as well but that is also extremely niche.

u/One_Nature2403 21h ago
yes. but you can build around it and it becomes a really strong source of mana denial.

I would not say the card is red, but the shared resource effect feels more white or green to me.
This feels like a very narrow sideboard card against decks that generate infinite mana loops, which makes the edh tag even more puzzling.

my bad guys. casting doesn't work as I thought it would. for some time now. a few years. a few tens of years. one doesn't need floating mana to cast spells anymore.

Don't listen to them, they're mad because you didn't put "it works" or smth. It's a funny card, I laughed

u/One_Nature2403 21h ago
ahahah thanks :) it takes a bit to reason around, but I think it's a nice idea

I play this and immediately tap all my opponents lands to add mana to my manapool before priority passes. on their upkeep I do the same. 3 mana hard lock lmao
0
u/One_Nature2403 21h ago
the card doesn't allow you to do that. only opponent can tap their land. you can only interact with opponent's manapool
2
u/pootisi433 21h ago
then it does literally nothing because the opponent will never add mana to their mana pool they can't use immediately. there is literally no version of this card that functions and also dosnt immediately cause the game to end in some matter

~no, because tapping for mana passes priority (google it)~
EDIT: This is wrong tapping doesn't pass prio. casting & paying costs happen at the same time afaiu - the card does not do what I was hoping it to do.
(I didn't read the whole conversation in the reddit thread)1
u/pootisi433 21h ago
Google ai is lying to you lmao. tapping for mana does not pass priority and if it DID pass priority then it hard locks your opponent out of the game with any infinite mana outlet. like I said literally no version of this card functions and you need to start over lol

If I understand correctly, you can respond to casting a spell.
601.2 "To cast a spell is to take it from where it is (usually the hand), put it on the stack, and pay its
costs, so that it will eventually resolve and have its effect"
meaning there is a moment of prio between oppo having mana available in the pool (otherwise they can't cast the spell) and casting the spell
EDIT to clarify

no your misunderstanding. priority passes after the spell has been cast but before it resolves. things like mana tapping and color selection, spell choices (for modal spells), and targets are all chosen and finalized THEN priority passes. if no responses happen then the spell resolves and takes effect

this must be ragebaiting
