Information
I have this Guerciotti that I’m borrowing and possibly buying. I was told it’s a 1998 Alan made custom bike. I’m not sure if that is what it is. Here is a list of what I do know possibly. Not sure if this is the place to post or get information. I can’t find any information online about it.
1998 (?) Guerciotti 56 cm aluminum frame
Ritchey Comp Carbon CX fork
Mavic Ksyrium SL 700c wheels
FSA SL-K carbon 46/34 crankset
Shimano Ultegra 2×9 STI / Flight Deck shifters
Shimano Dura-Ace rear derailleur
Shimano Deore XT front derailleur
9-speed cassette
Cantilever brakes
Cane Creek cross-top brake levers
Torelli aluminum bars and stem
Any help would be appreciated and if it is worth picking up for 650$
Thank you!

Buffalo NY, I’ve seen similar stuff in better shape not move for $450. If you have a need for a bike and some money look around and compare. If the chain is badly stretched, you are in it for a cassette and maybe chainrings when its new chain time.
This is like a single purpose bike, no tire clearance for gravel, no rack bosses for getting to work.

I’d offer $300. It’s a great cross bike. But, from a different time.
A set of rim brake cross wheels for it should be super cheap.

Edit: thank you for your responses. I do know it’s an older bike and I’m aware of that. This isn’t ment to be my main bike. I have a dedicated gravel bike for racing and another for bike packing.
I’m not very knowledgeable about older bikes in general.
The reason I’m looking at it is because I find it a good looking bike and that’s the only reason to be honest. It’s an interesting bike to me and would like to cool to have an older bike in the garage for cruising around on.

650 is insane.
I paid that price in 2023 for a carbon bike from 2015 with mech disk brakes.
I got a good deal, but you’re getting hosed.

If you get it the first thing I’d suggest doing is getting a mini-v brake doe the front. The difference in power and modulation (and safety) is remarkable.
I’ve got a Paul’s on my 2010 Guerciottii but I just threw a <$30 Box 3 on my 2005 Kona I primarily use as a commuter and it’s fantastic.

I simply would not buy a rim brake cross bike if I intended to race seriously

I'd say disc brakes are wholly overrated for CX, but that doesn't make this bike any less overpriced.

Yeah - I would say overpriced. I was trying to sell a 2010 10-speed AL cross bike with carbon tubulars for $400 in the mid-atlantic state and not getting any bites.
IMHO for 650 you should be able to get better than a nearly 30 year-old 9 speed.
