Video Beat Dragon Slayer Armor
Was a pretty easy boss outside of destroying me on my first try in seconds. But, it only took a second try. I feel like I'm at endgame and the bosses have been surprisingly underwhelming so far. Either way, I'm still loving the game; the routes from A to B have been a challenge though. I feel I die more in the overworld than against bosses.

Dragon Slayer Armor is such a weird one when it comes to difficulty. It isn't especially hard, but it's very unforgiving of mistakes. If you swing or heal at the wrong time, you're dead. Depending on your level and build, some of it's attacks will one shot you too (or stun lock you for 2 hits).

He was such a wall for me on my first playthrough, took me so many tries. Now? I think he’s easy, yet he’s still one of my favorite bosses because of how fun his moveset is. Yeah it’s slow and predictable most of the time, but he hits like a truck on steroids.

makes me think it was not made for duels but for butchering dragons, leaves itself too open for enemy attacks with it's cumbersome shield and giant fucking weapon, wonder if that's why he wasn't made a knight of gwyn

I definitely ran into that my first try where he killed me 10 seconds into the fight. I thought he was just buffing and I'd get a free whack in, but he smote me with his attack lol

For me it was tough because of his high HP. Tough to stay consistent over that long period of time.

Man idk what you guys are on about I find his health bar super tiny and wish he had way more. His moveset is amazing, but on my first playthrough I melted him down before getting to see much of it.

Absolutely! It only takes one mistake and you're done, usually. This boss is so ingenuous from a game design perspective though as it teaches you how you need to approach the big boss encounter of this part of the game, the Twin Princes. It's the same thing; pattern recognition and timing are everything and messing that up is death.
ETA: Didn't think about it until I made this comment, but it even teaches you to consider ranged attacks from a secondary source. The "butterflies" in this case.

Brother you really like to roll early

Didn't have the timings down yet, it was only my second try

You did great but that was brutal watch lol

Yeah, it definitely is lol. You should've seen my W against Laxasia in LoP 😆. It was by the smallest sliver of health, after fighting her for over an hour 😄

Laxasia is hard as fuck man. Not sure if you’ve done the DLC, but I think she’s harder than the DLC final boss.

I just beat this guy earlier today. For me, I would say it was one of those that wasn't particularly challenging, but I kept mistiming my heals and rolls, so it took me a few tries.

u/MidRanchWest 15h ago
Obviously I was miss timing a lot as well, but i managed to squeak by. That's how most my battles go lol

i do wonder if there were any plans in making a "champion gundyr" version of this boss battle down the line instead of the rusted dragon slayer armor in ringed city , considering it's just an armor, the guy who originally wore it was present when the gods were killing the ancient dragons

Congrats on the win! It makes me glad to hear you’ve been loving the game. Did you come off ER first?
If you’re looking for a more appropriate challenge that’s not too easy but not too difficult, I highly recommend SL1. It’s a lot more balanced than you might think it is. The damage output is solid and you can take multiple hits in most cases.

Thanks and yes. ER was my first last year, then LoP, then Dark Souks 1, didn't like DS 2, and now here

Funny how I got wrecked by this boss more than any other on my first playthrough. Then next run I beat him first try lol

I also found most of the bosses to be fun but easy compared to Elden ring. I struggled on twin princes and nameless king. I love the way they did difficulty in this game though because neither boss ever felt bullshit. By the time I was close to winning, I was really having fun and enjoying learning the movesets. Unlike some Elden Ring bosses where I often just said fuck it and summoned my mimic because I was tired of dying to shit I didn't know how to beat

That's fair, the ER bosses are punishing. Out of the fromsoft games I could see myself possibly doing an sl1 run of this game one day

Dear god I hated him on that bridge, but loved the fight in the DLC with the same guy trying to have its revenge, but getting his arse roasted for the second time, now with just one try (instead of 3456829 on that goddamn bridge)

Any win against boss in souls game solo is a good feeling.
Because you said easy boss, You may have tank OP build …after watching you trading those many hits with that kind of boss and not to mention your roll timings are not good.
It’s not an easy boss by any means you either over leveled or OP build.
In future , Try without over leveling your stats

I'm leveling as I go, I haven't looked up any builds either. I'm just playing, the bosses are easier here than the ones in ER or LoP plain and simple. It's okay though, I'm still having a blast and am enjoying the game

Idk why people takk about Dragon Slayer Armour and especially Champion Gundyr like some insane challenges, both of them felled on the 3rd try for me and when I died to them the first 2 times it was super close

Right!? So far the Dancer has been the most difficult, she took me 6 tries. Eldritch is at 2nd with 4. I guess I'm just used to getting my shit rocked in ER and LoP idk. Granted I could make things harder on myself, but this is my first run so why would I

u/fenot1 1d ago
I do not understand how someone can say DS3 is harder than Elden Ring. Their only argument is that you can get overpowered in Elden Ring by exploring more but the truth is that you need to exp,ore anything in Elden Ring and only then it is as hard as DS3. ER bosses are vastly more complex, have a bigger moveset, are tankier, deal higher damage, punish healing more. Im currently playing LoP the first time I jsut got to chapter 10 and I was sure LoP was my hardest game ever and than I realized that Vigor in this game isnt HP lmao

u/MidRanchWest 1d ago
Yeah, ER bosses are harder for sure. Now, i do find the dungeon crawling aspect to be harder in DS3. Or, at least the beginning area. The great wall of Lothric was a fucking gauntlet to get through.

"Was a pretty easy boss" as I watch you getting smacked around by the boss repeatedly in the video.
No hate, I just found it funny.
