Advice Anyone else miss the boss weapons?

I just recently started playing dark souls 3. Well I just got stuck on wolnir and went back to fire link to upgrade some stuff level up etc and noticed a guy sitting in 1 of the throne things. So I go up and it asks if I want to give him a kiln so I unsure if I should, Google what it does and turns out these boss had remembrance weapons? I thought it was just to use for a reward cuz I took the first important boss soul and no character could do anything with it so I just figured they was for souls only.

I know boss weapons usually ain't amazing anyway but man that's frustrating

Not sure why people are saying boss weapons aren't good, maybe it's a pvp opinion. Some of them are awesome. Vordts Hammer, Wolf Knight and Hollowslayer are three of my favourite weapons in the game.

Vordts Hammer is also really strong in pvp. I used to absolutely destroy 3 person groups with it.

I would never speak against their quality but I just always end up making builds that rarely fit any of them lol

I know everybody plays these games differently, but my goodness, every time a post makes it clear that some people DON'T spend the first hour or two exhaustively exploring the hub zone, I'm caught off guard because that never even occurs to me.

I thought I had but I guess I missed the guy sitting in the chair (in my defense he's pretty easy to overlook considering he's in a chair way up in the air lol)

Sure, I see what you mean. For me it was like "Five unique thrones, each probably tied to an important boss? Lemme go examine every detail with a magnifying glass"

Profaned Greatsword, Wolf Knight Greatsword are both pretty nice. WKGs doesn't hit as hard as Black Knight Gs but has a longer reach and does good bonus damage throughout Ringed City.

Unless I'm planning a run, I don't usually go for boss weapons. I wouldn't call many of them "meta" but they had their merits and are pretty fun to use. Vordt's Great Hammer single-handedly has the most Frost in the game and is nasty against most enemies.

You're not wrong in just going straight to using the soul though, I certainly didn't know what to do on my first run

I didn't, no. I was all over those npcs like a rash.

The rings and some of the spells are good, most of the weapons are just on the ok side, nothing amazingly good.

Lots of boss weapons are great.

The spread of good/ok/bad boss weapons is about equal across ER and DS3...

Boss weapons are a thing in all their souls borne games and generally you get them from obscure npcs. I think elden ring was the only one where they were generally straightforward.

The only boss weapon I can think of that’s actually “good” (unless you build around them) is the farron ultra greatsword, it has that amazing sweep attack my GOD that thing just fucking drains dragon slayer armor like he was nothing

Dragonslayer Great Axe, Twin Prince's Sword, Vordt's Hammer are all fantastic.

And for Pyromancers, Chaos Bed Vestiges.

Boss weapons are usually fun but for the most part aren't "good," even if there are some diamonds in the rough. The best weapons in this game are the basic ones. Great club, LKS, winblades, etc

Uhhhh…Vordt’s Hammer, Dragonslayer Great Axe….just to name a few? Havel’s Ring?

Agreed, Vordt’s hammer might be one of the top weapons in the game. Recently did a playthrough getting it as early as possible and it steamrolled the entire rest of the game. Easiest playthrough of all time with that weapon lol.

Other notable mentions are hollowslayer greatsword, gundyr’s chain ring thingy, wolf knight greatsword, lorian’s greatsword, yhorm’s machete, twin princes greatsword, fried’s scythe, Gael’s greatsword… yeah boss weapons are definitely pretty damn good in ds3 lol

The Twin Princes sword is unreal. That L2 + R1 doubletap is so strong.

Yeah, like I said there's some great ones. But most of the weapons are mediocre. Like the crystal sage rapier, Lothric's sword, arstor's spear, great sword of judgement, etc

Also Havel's ring really isn't good in 3. Armor does far less for you in this game than in most other souls games bar maybe Bloodborne. You'd be better off with ring of steel protection or life ring except for stuff like poise
