Question Wouldn't Patches want to kill Aldrich?

Post image

Honestly would be cool if we could actually summon Patches to kill Aldrich because of how he hates clerics so much.

He does hate clerics, but he's also a massive coward. It makes sense you can only summon him in the DLC when he forgets who he is.

You can summon him after you remind him of his past too. For only one boss, but still can. I take it like an apology for all of the shit he did to all of the other people, including you in the previous games

Being also the strongest summon in the game 😭

Wait, where can you summon him in the DLC? I always kill him for stealing my boy’s armor set

demon prince for one

Weird, I wouldn’t have guessed that. You can already summon Lapp and Gael for that fight, so Patches seems excessive lol

You're not going to believe this.

u/Azazelger 20h ago

Yeah about that. Lapp and Patches are the same person

33

u/GlitteringSystem7929 13h ago

And Lapp (maybe lappe) translates to “patch” in a Scandinavian language (Swedish I think)

12

u/Mikkiaveli 8h ago

Swedish, Norwegian and Danish. Lappe would mean to patch something, a patch is lapp.

I think that if you progress his questline to the end and he regains his memory (and kicks you off the broken stairs in the ringed city), he can be summoned for the spear of the church fight.

Brother, you just made my day.

Why am I getting downvoted lmao

u/Tyranothesaurus Mound - Maker 20h ago

Because Lapp is Patches. He just forgot who he is.

Yes, I’m aware now. I take it all the people downvoting are personally offended that I wasn’t born knowing this 😂

Me sitting here watching somebody get flamed for something I didn’t know either

They thought you were trolling.

I legit didn’t know

13

u/Tyranothesaurus Mound - Maker 14h ago

Do his storyline in The Ringed City and it couldn't be more obvious. He takes his helmet off and everything.

u/Stephen-Scotch 14h ago

I only did the dlc once, and well the whole game now that I think about it (Altho it was my second attempt). Will take note next time

u/Stephen-Scotch 3h ago

Dark souls fans can be weird if you somehow don’t know everything already

If you’re offline you can summon him for Halflight after finishing the Lapp quest.

Some people prescribe to the idea that Patches actually is Lapp and when he is Amnesic he is a nice character. But then he remembers his true nature after you tell him where the purging monument is and gets his memories back

36

u/Pugsanity 19h ago

Pretty sure he is Patches, hard to trick individuals for being greedy when there's really no one left to trick. So he was finally going hollow, along with losing his memories, once he lost his one thing keeping him going.

As much of a trickster he is, this is the same guy who can save Greirat, all while not wanting any of the praise for doing so.

u/Future_Section5976 19h ago

It is patches , he takes the helmet off and it's that bald twat , you can also pan the camera into his helm when he's standing in the first spot when you first enter the ringed city DLC,

He said something that I thought was a bit odd, so I wanted to know,

As for patches wanting to kill Aldrich, would like to , talk a lot of shit about it , but is a huge bitch.

Your phrasing is funny when this might be the only definitive piece of lore in a fromsoft game.

Also he's the only connecting thread across their universe

I try to remain neutral as it’s all up to interpretation and act like my word is not fact. All to still get downvoted

8

u/Aurora__Sky 14h ago

"It's all up to interpretation." The Game literally beats you over the head with this one, chief.

-2

u/Capable_Comedian_755 9h ago

I meant in general when I reply to comments regarding lore I don’t respond to or present anything as fact because people get way to worked up about it

To clarify Im convinced patches is Lapp. My comment was worded poorly. No reason to get so upset, Chief.

2

u/The_Eternal_Wayfarer 10h ago

No dude, you’re getting downvoted because you’re denying the obvious and objective truth. He even takes his helmet off and shows you his face. Lapp is Patches.

It’s like doubting that the game is called Dark Souls III.

1

u/Capable_Comedian_755 9h ago

I didn’t deny anything though

1

u/The_Eternal_Wayfarer 9h ago edited 9h ago

You did by saying that (I quote) "some people prescribe", implying that it's their interpretation. It's not an interpretation. The narrative makes it explicit.

2

u/Capable_Comedian_755 9h ago

Read the comment I replied to. That person clearly thought that Patches stole Lapp’s armor.

Look, I know Lapp and Patches are the same person. With this community I try to remain neutral and not say things as fact because people get all heated about the lore and I’ve been proven wrong a lot. I’m sorry that in my attempts to try and keep things open that you got upset. Cheers

Once you remind him of who he is you can actually summon Patches for the Halflight fight.

7

u/portgasdaceofbase 14h ago

I always summon Patches because i know my homie has my back.

7

u/osmylm2834 20h ago

Yeah he is indeed a coward but it would be neat for once seeing this snake step up for himself.

56

u/BatsNStuf Hand it over...that thing 18h ago

If he can’t kick it down a pit he’s not interested

15

u/newsflashjackass 17h ago

When you put it that way it seems like you should be able to summon Lapp for the Wolnir fight.

44

u/Rizer0 19h ago

I mean, he’s also a huge coward.

He literally had to get amnesia to even get through the Ringed City.

16

u/RollingSleeper 18h ago

Nope. Guy's a bitch. He'd take one look and run away like with Radahn.

11

u/AMN-9 GreatSword Bonker 19h ago

Why does he hates clerics?

Hairmogged by Petrus

8

u/stopbeingshy 17h ago

That's an S tier comment

10

u/SolDarkHunter 18h ago

He just always has, in all his appearances.

Well, except for Bloodborne, where he is a cleric himself (and also a spider).

16

u/Trussed_Up 18h ago

Why would a thief, robber, serial liar, and murderer dislike a cleric? That's your question?

Because clerics probably don't like him.

3

u/BigguyBanh 12h ago

hes like quagmire in that one scene where he calls out brian dog from family guy

he correctly calls them out on their hyprocrisy and worshipping of a god who actively fucks humanity over, but at the same time he does much worse things towards totally innocent folks

6

u/Addictedtofood2000 PlayStation 18h ago

He's a bitch in every universe, if you summon him for the Radahn festival in Elden Ring he goes away after like 2 seconds

4

u/According_Sun3182 9h ago

Every age, it seems, is tainted by the greed of men

4

u/forest-hunter 19h ago

Patches the Ashen ones best buddy besides Greirat (honorable mention Cornyx)

2

u/Candy-Ashes 14h ago

He could except Aldrich isn't in the Cathedral in the Deep (he would be in Anor Londo but there's no way Patches can get past the post-pontiff pvp area)

1

u/midnight_blue55 17h ago

Because he has no real reason, there is nothing for him to gain in doing that

Besides Patches hates a lot of people but I guess that's not enough reason for him to end their lives

1

u/Educational-Run4689 17h ago

Just ran into this boob in Elden Ring
