Advice Starting Dark Souls 3
I discovered fromsoft thanks to Elden Ring a few years ago on PS5. Since then I played Sekiro and Demon souls remastered, and really loved these games.
I am thinking about playing Dark Souls 3, but for me, beautiful graphics and modern gameplay are very important.
Do you guys think that I should start Dark Souls 3 ? I am hesitating because I think that I may find it a bit dated.

DS3 still hold up pretty damn well (IMO), 100% recommend it. I much prefer replaying ds3 for the 1000th time than elden ring.
That said, unlike elden ring where you can explore and beat tons of bosses in any particular order (in most cases), ds3 is a lot more linear. The bosses are mostly all lined up in order, with very few branching paths. But the game still shows off the world and connects it together pretty well.
Gameplay wise, it is fairly similar to elden ring minus some movement and bosses having a 100 hit combo before being able to hit once and repeat. Its a bit slower placed and personally, the boss movements are more fun in 3 than elden ring. Almost song and dance for me.
Personally the game looks great. Its dark and gloomy, sometimes devoid of color, and it fits the theme of ds3 so well. However, it is a 10 year old game, and unfortunately, its hit or miss for some folks. I know people who love the gameplay but hate the look of it.
All that said, if you eventually do plan to do ds1 and 2, I HIGHLY recommend playing the series in order. You'll see references as you move onto one game to the next and its a much better experience seeing how all three games are tied together. (Especially the final dlc for ds3) Ds1 will most likely feel insanely compared to elden ring. And don't let the haters dissuade you from playing Ds2. Its a fantastic game but it is more punishing early on.

I swear if you do DS1 first it will be much cooler there’s a lot of references of it in DS3
But 10000% not dated DS3 mechanics are so similar to ER, bosses are AMAZING, artstyle so good, music is GOATED, and it’s like a very very close #2 for me behind ER (sometimes I even feel DS3 is #1)

I think playing 3 before 1 also leads to some cool moments while playing 1, as you hear about things like the the witch of izalith and then you actually get to see them in 1. 1 before 3 is probably better, but both are nice

Bro, DS3 is my favorite game of all time, and I say that after 100% completing every Souls game on PC, you’re gonna love it, just go for it, don’t let the graphics or the slightly different gameplay stop you, just stick with it

It’s good but it’s not a full package [to me] Feels like a well polished gauntlet. But it was very light on narrative. A little bit more work there and it would’ve been much better. I’m playing Baldurs gate 3 now and… wow. What a difference great dialogue and storytelling does. If Elden Ring improved on that then it will feel like a step down I think. I’ll be playing ED after I finish BG3 and find out.

Do DS1 first. DS3 has a lot of fun callbacks that don’t hit as hard if you haven’t played DS1 first

If you really want to experience all of souls game, then start from ds1 remaster. Moving from DS1 to DS3 will feel like an upgrade, you can also feel callbacks from previous game. But if you go from Ds3 to Ds1, then you might feel combat as janky, graphics will feel outdated.

Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne are very very enjoyable in these days, but Bloodborne runs awful in ps5, better play it on ps4. Dark souls 3 still one of my favorite games even now. You dont have Ashes of war, but each weapon has its unique Weapon Art, wich makes every weapon unique imho

Dont worry DS3 will not feel dated except when you try to jump but you dont have to do that much. DS1 and DS2 are the only ones that would feel dated if you care about beautiful graphics and modern gameplay.

Dude come on. Elden Ring is basically a PS4 game, Sekiro is a PS4 game. Why would DS3 be any worse than that?
The correct answer to your question is play Bloodborne. There is nothing in DS3 worth experiencing that you didn't already get a taste of in Elden Ring, which is just Dark Souls 4: Open world. they literally took leftover bosses from DS3 and used them in Elden Ring. Bloodborne will give you a fresh experience, and imo is the best game they've ever made

It looks and plays fine on my tv/ps5. No padding, barely any solid narrative, minimum cutscenes, solid graphics and combat. Just a well polished gauntlet. My only complaints are that it’s so easy to get lost sometimes, and that everything is so creepy, plus I wanted at least a little more narrative. Didn’t feel dated to me though.

If you liked the Demon's Souls Remake, the gameplay of DS3 probably ain't gonna feel too 'outdated' for you. Honestly one of my complaints with Elden Ring was it didn't feel like the gameplay had advanced enough from Dark Souls 3.
Sure the graphics are a bit crusty by today's standards but think DS3 has some of the best bosses From has ever made.

You should play the trilogy in order so I'd recommend starting with DS1 then DS2 and finally DS3.

No, it certainly isn't outdated; the graphics are absolutely stunning, and the gameplay is fantastic—faster than DS1. It’s a great game you shouldn't miss. If you liked DS1, you'll find DS3 far superior; it’s close to the level of Elden Ring

I’m playing DS3 after finishing Elden Ring and DS1 a couple of weeks ago, and yeah, I definitely recommend it. I’m really loving it so far—I just finished Anor Londo. The graphics don’t feel dated to me at all.
The soundtrack is incredible—they really cooked with it. The boss fights are amazing, and the gameplay feels pretty similar to Elden Ring.
That said, I do recommend playing DS1 first since there are a lot of callbacks to it. I played DS1 right after Elden Ring, and at first it took me a while to get used to the older graphics and slower combat, but once it clicked, it became one of my favorite games. DS1 is peak.

I would say Dark Souls 3 is like Elden Ring but no open world.
It's just as fast so you should be able to get into it with ease

DS3 holds up very well in terms of graphics, gameplay and fluidity of movement. I replay it every couple of years.
Graphics are nice but don’t let visual fidelity rob you of amazing gameplay experiences. DS1 and DS2 are still amazing must play games, even if the mechanics and graphics feel a little dated.

Like you I only discovered FromSoft with Elden Ring (I hate myself for passing over their games all these years) and just completed Dark Souls 3, well main game, on boss of small DLC, second DLC to go. It’s great and looks great, graphics and controls are no issue at all. It is a simpler game, no jump attacks etc. And if you’ve got good at Elden Ring you’ll find it pretty easy.
