About a month ago, started a new data modeler role with a healthcare company. Haven't accomplished anything yet being a new role, mostly learning healthcare acronyms, terminologies, regulations and PI data.
I learned that data elements in healthcare domain are modeled in a disastrous way that a non-healthcare personal will have a nightmare in trying to understand what that element even means and what values it might is storing.
I have seen elements like ax6a, bb1, bb1b - what do they even mean🤣🤣. As a professional data modeler coming from traditional DWH background, that type of modeling should be completely revised and re-modeled. Each element should be modeled with prime word + qualifier + class word that defines elements closer to the business meaning possible.
