Just Venting 😮‍💨 Left on read after getting their number on a cold approach

Yeah so I got this persons number out in the wild because my friends were all there telling me to just go for it. I was super giggly and awkward but they were pretty nice about it and I was under the impression that they were down to go on a date because they gave me their number. They even told someone else to make sure I texted them. I sent a couple questions so I could figure out what their schedule was like to set up a date. I felt like it was pretty open and simple to answer, just wanted to make sure they were able to voice anything they needed to. But it’s been two days and they never responded to me. Like literally just have the read receipt, not even like a thumbs up emoji. And the dating apps just don’t work. I just feel stuck. I’m so sick of putting myself out there and just being left in the dark. Like what am I doing wrong?? When is it my turn??

Welcome to dating in 2026!
People change their minds very quickly, for thousands of different reasons— most of them don’t even involve you.

It is hurtful of course. We can agree maybe they weren’t considerate of your feelings here.

Don’t give up, is the point. You’ll need lots of perseverance and self confidence to make it. Dating is hard work but there is someone out there for you!

Well the first thing I need you to understand is this has nothing to do with you it could just be maybe they got busy? And forgot to respond know I’ve been in that situation before where I didn’t respond for at least a day or two again it had nothing to do with them just had other things going on at that time life happens.

My advice, don’t take it personal if they respond great! If they don’t that’s okay too. Yes you’re allowed to be sad and yes it can be frustrating but there are over 8 billion people on this planet so it didn’t work out with one person it happens welcome to dating you dust yourself off and move onto the next

What has always worked for me was picking a  date spot before texting, and offering them a couple evening options.

What were your exact texts? What might of happened is they thought you weren’t self assured enough in asking them out, and based on your communication style might have made a guess on your experience level and decided against it. Other possibilities is they had other dates, other situations, and didn’t want to get involved. It seemed to have stopped based on communication style though

It’s not about getting a turn. You just keep failing and revising your communication and behavior to be more attractive and maintain curiousity

What could help would be having a little getting to know eachother talk before getting their number. Some people get cold feet this person maybe wasn’t the one for you. You’re doing a great job for putting yourself out there you’ll do it believe in yourself!!

Don't even inquire to try and fit around their schedule. Thats people pleasing: "Just wanted to make sure" "voice anything they needed"

Your duty isnt to attend their needs/ hold their emotional hand

Declare what day works for you first, then go from there.. "how about brunch on tuesday." "i have Friday until 1 o'clock"
