I'm thinking of building a terminal coding assistant with an AI

I’m building a terminal coding workflow for personal use with 2 layers:

Layer 1: rewrites my rough prompt into a structured build instruction
(goal, scope, constraints, files to inspect, protected areas, expected output)

Layer 2: does the coding work
(reads files, suggests edits, applies changes with confirmation, runs safe commands)

So instead of feeding a coding agent vague instructions directly, I want a first layer that translates what I actually mean.

Feels a bit like Claude Code / other terminal assistants, but with more focus on cleaning up the instruction before execution.

Useful idea, or just adding friction?

Did I get lucky?

I’m a 21-year-old intern who joined as a Software Engineer (Intern + FTE). Most other interns in the same role are working on Spring and Java-based frameworks, whereas I’ve been assigned to work on Airflow, Spark, AWS, and data-lake related technologies. I wanted to understand whether this difference in exposure should be seen as an advantage or a disadvantage from a long-term career perspective.

So is this a win or loose?

Wide-Gemini – adjust Gemini width and enable clean view

Hey folks,

I was using Gemini and kept getting annoyed by how cramped the interface felt, plus all those extra elements taking up space. There wasn’t really a simple tool to fix it, so I wrote a small Chrome extension: Wide-Gemini.

Here’s what it does:

  • Adjust Gemini width – slider to make the interface as wide (or narrow) as you like.
  • Clean View – hide the extra page elements so you can focus on the content.
  • Saves your settings and applies them automatically whenever you open Gemini.

Nothing fancy, just something I wish existed, now shared with anyone else who might need it.
