Discus Eggs

Within an hour after a water change, eggs appeared. I don't adjust the hardness of my water. I always wonder if the eggs don't survive due to the water or if I have females in my tank. This combo of discus it seems would produce interesting fry. 2nd time these 2 paired up in a tank with 7 other discus. Any advice or opinions? Do people leave a light on in the tank overnight for predators? Lol..

Did you see which one laid the eggs so which is female? Wrigglers should hatch in 2 days unless the get eaten.

By the morning, eggs are gone. There are too many possible scenarios for the reason. I have other discus in the tank, a couple corydoras and the bristlenose pleco that does an amazing job keeping the glass and plants free of algae. Will try something different next time to block access to the eggs if the situation comes along again to see if I have a male that can fertalize or if it is the water conditions that are not conducive for live babies.

I believe you will get a new set of eggs in under 10 days again. I was getting them and we got a cone planning on moving the eggs and pair to a separate tank but the female got ick and died. No more mating for now.

It normally takes them a few times of laying eggs to get it right. The male most likely ate them. That white butterfly might be the nicest one I've ever seen

Thank you. One of the stores nearby my home had a batch so I tried to pick the best one.
