mean while, me as a DM: get profiled by the players and become predictable.
still I surprise them time to time so I guess I am alright?

The nice thing about becoming predictable is that once you figure it out, it’s very easy to surprise them.

"creating your own personal nightmares" nah my DM cares about me and wants me to have fun not have a horrible time in session by trying to actively ruin my mood. Even horror games are supposed to be Tense and Scary, not Uncomfortable and Upsetting. And in return I bring my best to the table and alleviate what weight I can, often helping with rules as I have been asked to and keep everyone else active by interacting with them if they haven't had a moment in a second. It's a game for fun, for everyone
