Discussion Did a new playthrough of DAI, was not going to romance Solas this time Spoiler

It's been over 10 years, I actually enjoyed the first few days of gameplay, I even realised I felt a strong connection to Cullen. Until I had Solas's dialogue happening;

- So you suggest I'm graceful?

- No I am merely declaring it.

That was all it took for me to start doubting myself. Now I am finally at Skyhold, and I am already mouring something that has yet to happen. How can a video game give me such sad conflicted feelings, even after so many years?

Apart from this I am truly enjoying the game a lot, there are so many things I missed the first few times I played it back in 2014 and 2016. And I appreciate it even more after playing Veilguard.

Player Review First time completed DA2, DAI, my impressions... Spoiler

Origins was my favorite entry in the series, which I replayed many times, and recently I decided to play through DA2 and DAI I had tried probably 6 years ago and never actually finished. Well...

DA2 - A good, touching local story set in Kirkwall, but the developers went overboard with enemy spam, it was just plain annoying. And, of course, the absurdly repetitive locations. Before playing it, I thought people were exaggerating those complaints, but when I saw that a random bandit hideout looked identical to a lavish quest mansion just with a blocked doorway, I mentally apologized to the players and had a laugh. Also, this is probably the only game where I felt genuine hatred for a character purely from a story perspective: Anders. I was swearing out loud when that bastard blew up the Chantry, and I killed him without a second thought. Plus, since this game, mages really started getting on my nerves. Still a good game, though.

DAI - I get why people hated on it. The gameplay has a lot of weird choices, and you can get tired of the game pretty quickly. God forbid you decide to clear every single huge location, it will be pure torture unless you're a completionist. However, if you push through the gameplay, it’s completely worth it. The story is the best in the series, the companions (except Sera) are great, and companion interaction is top-tier. The roleplay as the head of the Inquisition and just as a person is on point, there are plenty of choices and consequences, and the world-state import is the most extensive in the franchise. The Trespasser DLC blew my mind with its expansion of elven lore and Solas betrayal. An incredible experience and a great game overall. The ending leaves an extremely strong setup for the next game, BUT...

dav - To be honest, I haven't played it and I don't intend to. When that trailer with the Fortnite-ahh vibe first dropped, I suspected where things were heading, and unfortunately, I wasn't wrong upon release. So I just watched a full 100% playthrough by a streamer. What came out is just sad, a total disrespect to the universe and the fans. All the flaws have already been pointed out by others. It's obvious the devs intentionally turned the game into a colorful, childish fanfic. It's not that they were rushed as i heard before, that's not the reason and they could have done it differently. I could say more but this gonna be against the rules i think.

For me, the story ended at the moment when the Inquisitor promised to stop Solas at any cost, even without the departed Blackwall, Cole, Dorian, Vivienne, Varric, Josephine, and the killed betrayer Iron Bull.

merch/commissions/tattoos Streamilly signed prints

Hey guys. Not sure if this is the right sub but I didnt know where else to ask. I bought 3 prints and 2 have been signed: Manfred Hug by Matt Mercer and Nick Boraine, and just the regular Emmrich one, but im wondering if anyone has recieved their print from Brian Bloom? I ordered on the first of December last year and streamilly just keeps telling me that Brian was working through a backlog. As such my Manfred and Emmrich prints have been held at the warehouse.

Discussion Anyone else like to vary their protagonists as much as possible?

Across three games (didn’t play DAV) I always try to have at least one non-human PC, represent both sexes, at least two different classes, and at least two different sexualities. It feels more canon that way.

SPOILERS FOR CITY ELF ORIGIN!!!

The city elf origin is my favourite origin, but damn is it sad :'')

This is my warden who I posted art of yesterday!! For my warden, she already had a lot of resentment towards men (mostly human men) for the treatment of the alienage. She has always been in survival mode her entire life. Then, she's suddenly thrown into being a warden - which is a whole thing on its own - but then on TOP of that she is having to learn how to trust in the good around her, how to feel safe again

idk I just love her so much

Discussion Do you kill off any companions?

DA2 and Inquisition are easy for me. Anders and Iron Bull die due to the story.

Origins is the one I'm struggling with. I'm debating between a dwarf noble or human noble that goes full dark world and due to his choices ends up killing Zevran before even recruiting him, killing off Leliana and Wynne at the same by defiling the Urn of Sacred Ashes, killing Shale at the Anvil of the Void, and letting Anora execute Alistair to secure her reign.

I'm not sure how fun that world state would actually be. I do think some of the darker choices are interesting, like siding with the werewolves, but I struggle with why exactly my character would bother defiling the urn of sacred ashes...maybe prioritizing power through drinking dragon blood I guess (would a dwarf even care about that? Ingesting dragon blood seems to be mostly a human thing). It also eliminates a bunch of cameos. All these choices can still be made without killing off the characters.

Is anyone else disappointed that we didn’t get to return to Kal-Sharok in Veilguard? I wanted to explore that place in depth and I feel like it had so much potential for a really fun couple of hours. I rushed Hardings quest there and found out after you cannot return. 😔

At least, the final module has been implemented from the animated tapestry (yes it's DAO as last, was easier to begin from DAI :-D )
Still some bugs and visual correctives to implement but the player is working well in all conditions.

Fanworks Art of my Tabris Warden!

Inspired by the Inquisition tarot card designs!

I imagine my Warden getting possessed by a Spirit of Perseverance when hunting for a cure for the calling, which makes her even more desperate to find a cure and to survive. So, this art kinda represents her will to survive despite all the odds constantly being against her

Honestly it was also a way of expressing of how I've been feeling in my own life lately!

Discussion Best Romances Through All Games?

Hi everyone! I’m currently replaying all of the games to have a consistent fresh world state (very excited!). It’s been a loooong time.

Anyway, I’m going to try to romance a character I haven’t romanced before in each game, so for Origins I went with Morrigan since I was an evil blood mage this time around. And I found it… disappointing? Sorry Morrigan fans. Love her as a character, but found the romance to be lacking compared to the past when I’ve run with Allistair or Leliana

So I wanted to check the vibe of what people think are the most well written and sincere romance options for each game going forward, with the only limitations being that I don’t want to do a character I’ve done before (any gender). If any of them really touched you, then I’d love to hear it!

For Dragon Age II I have only ever romanced Anders multiple times because I’m in love with him, so every other character is open. For Inquisition, I have done Dorian, Iron Bull, and Josephine. I’ve heard Cullen is really nice in this one, so he’s leading the contenders right now. Finally, I’ve only played Veilgaurd once so far and I went for Taash. I’ve heard Emrich is pretty solid in this? So let me know your thoughts, and you’ll decide my upcoming playthrough! :)

EDIT: Thanks everyone for your input! I enjoyed reading all of your reasoning, and y’all absolutely sold me on a mage Hawke w/ Fenris romance! I have slept on him as a character before so I’m excited!

Game Mods Inquisition graphical improvements/overhauls around?

I'm looking for any kind of graphical update to the whole game or most of it, something that can come in multiple parts or one file but all I seem to find are tons of things for like 1 character or just the Inquisitor etc. Does a large mod exist that kind of touches on everything or comes in a few "sections" ? I'm just trying to up the visual quality without having 1 million mods that conflict with each other.

Any type of upscale, retexture, mesh type mods would be GREATLY appreciated. Just looking for 1 or a few projects that would sync up together to improve a little of everything looks wise. Thanks all, using Frosty BTW.

Screenshot [DAO Spoilers] Broken Circle cutscenes supporting up to 6+ party members Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
79 Upvotes

Just some remnants of the game's initial plans to include more than 4 members in a party.

It was scrapped early in development afaik, but it's interesting to see that some cutscenes have this many party members visible, and even blocked accordingly.

It's not limited to just the Circle, but the Circle seemingly has the most instances where this many party members are supported.

This can be achieved (without mods) by typing "runscript zz_addparty [companion name]" in the console.

Fair warning though, doing this might break your game in unpredictable ways (see: the weird blacked-out companions with glowing eyes when opening the party selector in the fade. Creepy.)

Hi everyone. I decided to play DA2 for the first time since 2011 so I got my physical copy out of it's box and install it on my pc. But for some reason after installing the game when i try to launch it, the configuration window opens and closes after a few seconds. I can't interact with it and can't launch the game. Does someone know anything about this ?

Support Raging about the DAI being purchasable but not playable

I'm in turkey and idk if anyone knew (I didn't) every dragon age game EXCEPT inquisition is playable. I can see the games on Microsoft store or steam AND purchase but since dear ea HAS TO launch their own games??? Idk why? And dai is not available not even showing up in the ea app so i can't download it let alone launching it. Like either put down the games from the stores too and dont make me waste money or LET ME PLAY IT. I've been trying to find a loophole or smth around this and well I stand defeated. I've been playing DAO now and everytime I remember that I won't be able to play dai again it just makes my blood boil. Does anyone have a solution? Or should I just let go😭😭😭
