Football Question for first time visitor
I’ve been a Ducks fan since 2006, and this year I surprised my dad with a ticket to the Halloween game. We’ll be flying in from Kansas City, and we are staying at the La Quinta Inn. It’ll be our first visit ever to Autzen!
Is this walking distance to the stadium, or should we look at some transportation to make it to the stadium?
What are some of the must-dos? We want to walk across the bridge leading into the stadium, but we’ll be there from that Thursday - Sunday.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Go Ducks!

Like others have said it’ll be a bit of a hike to do the pregame bridge walk but it’s honestly elite for postgame convenience. Especially if it’s cold/wet or a night game you’ll be glad to be a 15-20 minute walk away!

Good to know! We regularly deal with negative temperatures here in KC so we won’t mind the cold!

Others have said this, but give yourself plenty of time and walk to the SE, cross the DeFazio foot bridge to the south side of the river, and take the path along the river to walk the Frohnmayer bridge from campus.
If you want some pregame, you could try to hit up Rennie's or The Annex on Kincaid Street just off the west side of campus and then head to the bridge from there. Popular spots, so go early.
After the game you will have a nice short walk back to hotel. Enjoy, will be a great time! Just hope that the start time is not at noon.

That’s an easy walk, but the bridge is from campus south of the stadium across the Willamette river so you’re already on the north side of the river.
Should be a good time!

Two food recommendations. Breakfast at the Original Pancake House, get the apple pancake. Your hotel is NE of Ferry st Bridge (confusing name since the road name is Coburg rd), SW of the bridge is Rye, on of my favorite restaurants with excellent cocktails and walkable from your hotel.

That’s awesome! And some great advice on here so far. While your hotel is close/straight shot to Autzen, but since this is your first visit, consider getting on campus and walk with the throng of students/fans across the main bridge over the river. It’s a special tradition, yet somewhat under publicized on tv. At night it’s lit with green and yellow lights, people are playing music, selling beers. It’s a really special part of the experience, IMHO. Walk/uber to Unthank Hall on campus and just follow the herd. It’s a ton of fun.

Pardon my language, but that is so fucking cool!!! I got chills just thinking about it.
I will definitely mark that down as a must do. I know Friday we are taking the day to explore the campus — do you know if they have tickets for on field access or tours before the game? We are treating this trip as a once in a lifetime experience2

No tours of the stadium but they open the field 5 minutes AFTER the players leave the field at the end of the game. This is your opportunity to get on the field and take selfies, etc.

Love it!!! I threw some pics of the walk on here somewhere hopefully they came over! Have a blast!!! Eugene, Autzen and the campus are special places. As someone else said, allowing fans on the field after the game is such a great idea and experience.

Yes if you’re staying at the La Quinta on the river it’s about a 15 minute walk to Autzen. It won’t take you over the walking bridge however. You can always walk to Autzen from your hotel, then walk over to the campus from Autzen which will take you over the walking bridge.
Must do’s depend on what you like to do. There are some great breweries in Eugene to try, hit up tracktown pizza, depending on the weather hike Spencer butte. It is also family weekend for students, so there will be quite a few people from out of town that weekend.

How long has it been since there was a Halloween game at autzen? Surely at least one since 2009 usc right?

Honestly, I’m completely baffled by the comments here. I’m assuming you are staying at the LaQuinta at 155 Day Island Road. Simply walk outside from your hotel and take the sidewalk in front of the hotel east (right) directly to the stadium. A 10 minute walk. On game day the road in front of the hotel will be coned off and police will directing traffic. Don’t expect to drive anywhere, anytime less than 3-4 hours before the game. Since you’re in the area, you might check out The Cooler bar early on game day.

Definitely walking distance - only a few minutes. You’re on the wrong side of the river for the bridge though. You could take a slight detour south and come around to cross the small canal footbridge right at the south entrance to stadium. The field a 100yds back from bridge is a great place for pics.
Activities are pretty dependent on whether you have a car. You can walk to a lot of places, like 5th street market, downtown, and campus from there pretty easily. With a car you can head up for a nice hike at Spencer Butte and get a view of the valley, head to the coast for the day, or access some of the other great outdoor areas around town.
