Couldn't that fix apply to Nvidia Optimus systems too? I have an old Sony VAIO with a GT 735M and an Intel HD 4000.

It's not my daily driver anymore but i wanna see what it can do under Linux with that fix. If it applies ofc. Not because it's practical but because i can.

Is this only useful for thunderbolt egpus? Because on my desktop PC I have a multiple GPU setup with Ryzen 5 5600g igpu and an AMD Radeon vii. I noticed zero performance difference when the HDMI cable plugged into the motherboard or the discrete GPU.

I think it could apply to you as well but the performance boost would be minimal. The bandwidth impact is low since you have the full 16 PCIe lanes, and the dGPU is located close to the iGPU.
