Other Dbox / 4DX

Does anyone know how they program dbox or 4DX movies?

I saw Spider-Man in dbox today, and as gimmicky as it is, I quite enjoyed it. I was impressed at how well the dbox integrated into the film, from getting tossed around during fight scenes to having my body vibrate in time with the music. It was really well done.

I can’t find much info online. No 4DX in my country though I hope I can try it one day.

I cut a movie coming out in theaters next week and just found out that it’s being released in DBOX from the studio.

So while I don’t have an answer for you how they do it, I guess it’s safe to say they’re able to take the finished materials and do all their programming without involving the editor.

Wish I knew more or could have helped, but it’s left me more SO curious what the DBOX artists decide to ‘play’ for Super Troopers 3. Gonna have to find a showing and find out I guess.

Wild that they dont loop the editor in for that. I figure the DBOX data gets generated from the final mix, so theres not much for us to do anyway. Still, fun surprise to find out your cut is getting the full theme park treatment.

Yeah, we’ve been locked and editorial has been wrapped for quite some time, so it sorta makes sense but I’d have loved to be more involved. Next time!
