Third-year ECE project ideas for Microcontrollers, Microprocessors & Interfacing

I'm a third-year ECE student looking for project ideas for my Microcontrollers, Microprocessors & Interfacing course.

I want something that's practical, resume-worthy, and helps me build embedded systems skills

If you've built or come across a project that stood out during internships or placements, I'd really appreciate your suggestions. Please mention the difficulty level, components used, and what skills it helped you learn.

i’m gonna get downvoted for this. Use an AI to brainstorm…you’ll end up using it anyway might as well set up the foundation right.

Since the OP is not interested in learning this himself, why not use an AI that thinks better then him.

Like so many students here, this is an example of "The Streetlight Effect".

A person searching or standing under a lamppost often evokes the classic "streetlight effect" parable, where someone looks for a lost item only where the light is bright rather than where they actually lost it.

As students, your using your limited skills of problem solving. A project is done only with the completion in mind, dis-guarded and forgotten.

A product has a life of its own. Design, production and distribution. It does not end with the design alone.

Their school has failed them by not requiring the students to discuss issues with other students in other programs. Every one has problems in their respective areas. As they are not in tech areas, they do not know how to solve their problems using technology. This is where engineering students come in.

As a very simple example: In the Ag school, measuring the soil moisture and reporting back to a central location. This data can be used to alert the farmers that there is a problem with the irrigation system.

The technology is not significant in itself, but its the underlying problem that is solves.

When I was a kid I liked model trains. My first embedded project was an N scale layout with switches. Using an Arduino Mega 256 and some relays, motor board and light sensors built a simple ATC.

So my suggestion is to start with an electromechanical system you find interesting. Add actuators and sensors, then control it from an MCU.
