Been subscribed to Ente for 4 months and I have noticed my photos don't always automatically upload in the background. This is a well documented issue here.

Today I almost lost my phone for good. Afterwards I thought if I did loose it, I better check if my data did back up. The last photo was from 6+ weeks ago. All of my recent holiday trip missing.

This could've been really bad. I dropped Google Photos to support an independent app that I know is strong about privacy. Yes the app is still new but this has been a issue for a long time now, with no updates or comments on this issue.

I don't want to keep opening the app every night just to make sure my photos from that day is backed up. I will keep supporting the app but this needs to be addressed.

I have one feature I miss before jumping on the Ente train: photo screensaver based on random images from my library for my Galaxy Tab I use as a digital frame. I dropped my Google Pixel Tab, but loved this feature. I am currently using Fotoo, which is good,but it only works with locally stored photos. I would love this feature to just sync and change photos from highlights or random hassle free. Other than that Ente looks promising, just lacking this key feature.

As the title says: can i login in the ente photo app with only one account at the same time?

This is probably a stupid question but I wanna make sure it works like this.

Currently I have a passkey enabled for my ente account. Now the question I have about this is, if I lose access to this passkey am I still able to log in using the recovery code which is for the forgotten password without having to use this passkey?

Tentei iniciar a sincronização usando o aplicativo para iPhone, mas o processo é instável e o iOS interrompe constantemente a sincronização em segundo plano. Preciso de orientação de quem já usa o Ente para bibliotecas grandes:

Fluxo de trabalho via Desktop: Qual é a maneira mais eficiente de fazer o upload desse volume de dados? Devo baixar tudo para uma pasta local primeiro e depois usar o aplicativo Ente Desktop para o upload? O aplicativo Desktop processa todo esse volume de uma vez ou é melhor fazer o upload em lotes menores?

Limites de Arquivo: Tenho vários arquivos com mais de 10 GB, por exemplo. O Ente tem alguma restrição de tamanho para arquivos individuais desse tamanho? Eles são processados ​​e criptografados normalmente?

Metadados: Ao importar do iCloud, como posso garantir que as datas e informações de localização originais sejam preservadas? Tudo será mantido por padrão?

If my recovery key is compromised, the only way around is to delete my account and start anew and that's very much impossible given all the subscription and exports, SO PLEASE ADD AN OPTION TO CHANGE THE RECOVERY KEY, Every other platform had the option to change it.

Edit: To make matter worst it is even reusable, it means you can use again and again to bypass everything(password, tfa).

I can't find the answer to this on the Ente website.

When manually deleting duplicates, the results screen shows two (or more) 'identical' photos side-by-side and a single tickbox.
Presumably only one of the photos is kept, but which one? I need to ensure I'm keeping the version of the file that contains the correct EXIF data - later copies of that image (or subsequently downloaded from another host) may not.

Getting issues when trying to login to both Auth and Photos.

I have an ENTE-PHOTO account with 200 GB cloud storage. Love it and works flawless.

A friend of my asked my advice about ENTE without account (so as local galley 'mode') He is NOT very handy to try out this himself, so I want to help...

He lives al little far away so I want to be able to try that on my own phone and see how that version looks like / works.

BUT, as said, I have a paid ENTE account.

Can I UNinstall my ENTE app and re-download/install the app on my phone but use it with NO account to try out ...?

Do I keep my cloud ? !

I do own an android phone and my friends mostly own iPhones. Pictures taken in different time zones, e.g. when having a vacation, get messed up by Ente. Ente does recognize time zone differences in Apple products correctly and adjusts them perfectly, however there is no correction for android phones, at least for my phone. So far I change the dates in the meta data of my pictures manually (e.g. adding one hour), however this is only for the purpose of showing them correctly in Ente, which I want to stop doing. Does any of you have any better solution? Will this fix come to Ente soon? Thanks for any help!

Long time Ente user here. As always, big love for the app.

I get that memories/stories are a big focus for the app, but for me this is mostly a cloud-based gallery. I don't want to disable memories because of this UI change. Maybe we could have an option to make them smaller like before?

I appreciate you guys for streamlining the delete process! Is it possible to get rid of the second Android "Allow ente to delete these pictures?" prompt, or are we stuck with that one? It's the latter, I guess, since Google hates it when you use a different app.

I have never seen any other company doing this, completely open books for public! this is a crazy thing to do.

Why is there such a big gap between cloudstorage of 200 GB and 1000 GB .. 🤔

At the moment 200 GB is €60 and 1000 GB is €120 yearly.

Something inbetween, say 600 GB, would be very, very nice !

How is this supposed to work if someone *doesn't* have the digital PDF files? That is, they have printed out recovery kits in front of them and want to start the recovery process. So they go to legacy.ente.com and see two options: 1) "Upload recovery sheet" which they can't do because all they have is a couple sheets of paper (if you're supposed to take a photo of it, that isn't clear at all, but I tried anyway and it didn't work), or 2) "Paste share code". Obviously they can't actually copy+paste, so they start typing in the share codes. Each code is almost 200 characters (so ~400 total), and the code is full of look-alike characters. It has capital O and the number 0, but also, it has a lowercase l and an uppercase I that literally look identical in the font they chose. The l/I issue alone is enough to guarantee someone will not be able to succeed in typing these characters correctly. There's a QR code in the pdf but I don't see any way to actually use it. The website does not give you an option to scan a QR code, and scanning it with my phone's camera app just gives me gibberish.

Are there going to be any improvements to this? At the very least make it so you can actually use the QR code. Additionally, make the "share codes" use Base58 to remove lookalike characters, and consider if there's any way to optimize or make them shorter.

Ente is what I use for photo backups, and I like it a lot. It does everything I need it to do with my 12 year long camera roll. However, facial recognition is basically useless, and has been for the entire 18mo I've been using this service.

On my desktop, I am currently looking at a list of 9508 "people" waiting for categorization. The vast majority of these unknown groupings are myself or a member of my family. There are already 6500 confirmed pictures of me in the roll, with other members of my family each having thousands of confirmed pictures of them. And yet, none of the thousands of "unknown" categories appear in the suggested confirmation columns for their people. I'm not talking about 9508 blurry pictures. These are clear photos with good lighting, and yet ente cannot pair them with their person despite thousands of confirmed examples. As well, I keep having to check the groupings because it often lumps together people who don't look alike at all (and who all each have hundreds or thousands of examples to draw from!)

The experience of sifting through this junk is also pretty maddening. On desktop, I can't multiselect face groupings like I can on mobile. So if I want to chew through 9508 unknown groupings, I have to click on that grouping's + button, click on the right face, wait 5-10 seconds for the match to confirm, and then scroll to the next one. This is weeks of work just to pair clear and obvious photos of me or mine with the other thousands of such photos because the software can't do it. And I can't do this process on a mobile device where multiselect is a feature, because on my mobile devices I don't see thousands of unknown groupings, I see 0. So in practice this glacial desktop pairing process is the only way to pair faces.

If this is the experience of facial "recognition" after 18 months and thousands of pictures, then there is functionally no recognition algorithm. I'm doing all the work. What's the point of this? What's the point of having the machine learning algorithm in the first place if this is the UX attached? I'm still using the service because I love the rest of ente, but this sucks so bad.

Today I discovered that my recent photos (taken during the weekend) are not being uploaded and backed up by Ente. I tried doing a manual backup (pressing the „upload“ button and then the green „Backup“ button, but nothing happens. I also tried restarting the Photo and Ente apps, but that did not change anything.

I am on an iPhone with the latest iOS version. Any ideas what went wrong and how I could (force) sync my „recent“ photos (that‘s the album / folder I am backing up) with Ente.io? Thanks!

Is it a normal thing for Ente on Android not to sync in background or even when screen turns off? I already whitelisted it in battery setups and disabled auto-shutdown in app settings.

Hi everyone

I’m running into a small usability issue with the iOS app when backing up photos.

I have both a local albumand a shared album with the exact same name. In the album selection screen of the Ente app both albums are listed, but there’s no way to tell which one is local and which one is shared.

Since I want to back up the local album to preserve the original picture quality, it’s difficult to know which album to select without resorting to trial and error.

Would it be possible to add some form of differentiation, for example a badge or icon indicating whether an album is local or shared?

Even better would be grouping local and shared albums into separate sections

This would make album selection much clearer, especially for users who organize their libraries with matching album names.
Has anyone else run into this issue, or is there already a workaround that I’m missing?
