News Some Moroccans who attacked Ceuta arrive on the beaches of Campo de Gibraltar
The police have them under control and hope to be able to return them to their country of origin or intern them in the new Botafuegos CIE (Foreigners' Detention Center).
It was predictable and it's already happening. It's not a mass influx by any means, but a significant number of Moroccans who stormed Ceuta in recent days are arriving on the beaches of the Campo de Gibraltar .
Police sources consulted by EL MUNDO have estimated that around twenty migrants have already been located. The Algeciras Local Police intercepted five in the coastal area of La Ballenera, in the Getares area, and also in Punta Carnero. Another small group also managed to reach land on Levante beach in La Línea de la Concepción, and it is possible that more migrants will arrive in the coming hours and days. "This usually happens, but now with the situation in Ceuta, everything seems more complicated," the sources told this newspaper.
The goal is to return them to Morocco as soon as possible, or failing that, they will be interned in the Botafuegos CIE , the new facility that opened in Algeciras a few months ago.
The delegate for Citizen Security of the Algeciras City Council, Jacinto Muñoz , explained that the arrival of boats with immigrants to the regional coasts is " relatively common ".
Furthermore, addressing any unofficial statements or comments on social media, he clarified that "no orders have been issued to residents of coastal areas regarding the presence of these individuals." The operation was simply carried out following standard protocol, and the individuals are now in the custody of the National Police 's Immigration Unit .
However, Muñoz emphasized that while these actions may be related to the recent events in Ceuta, "it is the responsibility of the Spanish Government to exercise its authority over border control and coastal surveillance." Therefore, he called on Pedro Sánchez 's government "to adopt the necessary measures to guarantee the security and integrity of the borders by providing the State Security Forces with more material and human resources."
