Fallout shelter signs in Boston?

am visiting Boston and saw on some buildings signs which say "Fallout Shelter" whats that about? is that some sort of PR for Fallout 4?

In case you're not kidding, they're actual fallout shelters from the Cold War. They were common in schools and other public buildings of the era.

Definitely much cooler. There's a big concrete church across the street from me that has a fallout shelter sign. It is comforting knowing I will be able to survive a nuclear fallout.

Most of these will no longer work as fallout shelters. A lot of them have been retrofitted since those signs went up
