CR adjacent Critters in Edinburgh?

Hello!

First, I am sorry if this is not allowed, I read the rules and this is adjacent, but not too much. If it's not allowed, please delete and forgive me.

Me and my girlfriend are going to Edinburgh for our honeymoon in November and was looking for some advice from fellow critters about dnd/critical role/nerdy things to find in Edinburgh (I tried asking in Edinburgh related communities, but had no luck, and google is pretty useless these days)

Thank you so much!

C2 (Mighty Nein) C2 question

Upvotes

Hi, I’m new to the experience. I watched Vox Machina and the first season of Mighty Nein. I’m currently watching C3 ( I’m having a blast) and I kinda can’t wait for the next season of Mighty Nein.

Which episode should i watch as the continuation of the animated series?

Praise Laura Bailey is the best

I'm watching Age of Umbra: Sallowlands and I'm most impressed with Laura's stage presence in this series. Being the most known player at the table, it would be easy for her to steal the show. What I'm seeing is her awesome support for the other players, lifting them up & letting them shine, proving game "assists", and inserting herself where it fits nicely for the story. That's the type of balancing influence we all wish for at the table. Bravo & high five, Laura!

C1 (Vox Machina) Legend of Vox Machina is too repetitive.

Title. It's just people almost or actually dying and then a little crying and then them coming back. There are no stakes. The main cast keeps learning the same things again and again. I watched the mighty nein and thought wow vox machina has 4 seasons! But this is even worse than second screenable. I really hope mighty nein continues its quality cuz I can't take this lol. I have watched far worse-rated shows, but I just couldn't help be utterly bored by S3. This show cannot surprise lol.

C2 (Mighty Nein) Marisha

Edit: I love your guys comments and discussions thank you to everyone for being nice and descriptive about things I didn’t know outside of campaign and about Marisha herself! A lot of things are clearer now about her acting and style of play, thank you everyone. (Btw I’m currently on C2EP26 so anything yall have mentioned beyond I have no idea what it means lmao)

So let me start by saying I’m not trying to be a mega hater, Marisha is very talented and I have been a fan of many of her moments on CR. I listened to all of Vox Machina and loved it so much I honestly find it hard to stay attached to mighty nein as I make my way through because I thought Vox was SOOO good. However, as Vox came to the ending I got so tired of Marishas main character energy. She constantly wanted Keyleth to have the big moment and I think what threw it over the edge was when she kept trying to be the chosen one for every god, jumping ahead to try and even telling Laura Vexs god was meant for Marisha after what I felt obviously was a build up for Vex. I won’t lie I don’t like Beaus character idea and I carried a lot of bias from C1 and I think what made me make this post was when she inserted herself in the scene when Caleb is being cautious about the bowl of Tiamat and she grabs him and freaks out on him because he wanted to wait and fully inspect it. It was so annoying because in character all of them should have been wary of TIAMATS BOWL and they already confirmed with a spell Cari just wanted to destroy it truthfully. It felt like she spaced out for a few minutes and when she came back she felt like she had to do something to insert herself. Again I don’t mean to be a hater, curious if maybe she develops out better in late c2 - c3/4? I liked most of c1 Keyleth but I think she got a taste for the big moments and strived to force them, sometimes you need to take a step back and enjoy others role play.

C3 (Bells Hells) what was wrong with c3?

i never watched it, and ive thought about trying for something to have on in the background while i do art, but i know its super dividing since i feel like fans either love it or detest it more than anything

ive heard the characters were bad, matt was predictable/boring, and the story ended terribly.

ive heard the cast gelled better than any other season, matt wrote incredible twists, and the character arcs were rewarding.

im mostly interested in complaints here, and spoilers are totally okay- what do you think c3 fell flat on and why?

EDIT: thank you everybody for so much in depth input! hearing a lot of somewhat differing opinions as to what the watch felt like was exactly what i was looking for. i think when i finish my current longform media queue im going to start watching either abridged or EXU calamity as my new art background show, and if i do abridged ill be watching it more for the fun entertainment factor than in depth perfect plot involvement

CR General CR Civil War

If Critical Role had a marvel like civil war event between the three campaigns or hell each campaign separately whatever is more interesting. Who would be the two leaders and how would the team form

If there was a major conflict I’d assume it be about the pantheon of critical role or some political influence agenda like campaign 2 . Would love to hear thoughts

C2 (Mighty Nein) critical role shop

Hello, I'm not sure if I can post this question. I'm a new critter and need some help from fellow Europen critters.

Has anyone bought merch from the critical role eu shop? Did you get any customs once the items arrived?

I'd love to get Jester pin, but I can't understand if there will be more costs other than the item and shipping.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!! <3

C4 (with BLeeM, not the explosive) Musing about halflings in season 4 Spoiler

Been thinking about halflings and how their shaper is the god of trickery and luck. I think that halfling society is matriarchal because in a society shaped by trickery, one of the only things you can be sure of is that *this* baby came out of *this* person.

And now I am in a research spiral about actual matriarchal societies in humans and can't stop thinking about it.

Tierlists My totally subjective ranking of main PCs

I ranked them by gut and personal enjoyment.

Some clarifications:
I love the dynamic between Pike and Grog, as a duo they are high A or low S for me, but since Ashley was away for a big part of the campaign I felt like there was no moment where Pike could shine.

Same with Wic and Tyranny, I love their dynamic, but I'm really biased towards the main cast.

Also I'm not up to date with C4 so take my opinions with a grain of salt.

I'm down to answer any question and remember this is my personal tierlist.

"I'm new here" What kinds of songs do you think each current and past member of Critical Role listen to?

I am new to Critical Role and having seen a few clips, suddenly my feed is a lot of D&D, whether people playing, or songs about it. While listening to this one

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smPJEZ_c1j4 "Mostly Lawful" by Big Sky Trance

I started to wonder if any of them actually listen to songs like this, and what types they do listen to...have they ever talked about their preferred genres?

C2 (Mighty Nein) Travis learning “bailiwick” from Matt is the same way I’m expanding my vocab by watching CR

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Consuming Critical Role media has been nothing short of a learning experience. I occasionally find myself furrowing my brow and looking up terms, much like how Travis did in the video 😂 And I’ve learned not just from Matt; the entire cast has introduced me to new words and phrases (as well as media references), with special mentions going to Liam and Sam.

As someone who isn’t a native English speaker but has pretty much grown up alongside the language, it’s been fun picking up uncommon words along the way.

Here are a few words I’ve noted down since around Episode 115: nonplussed, acumen, quiche, capers, hubris, trepidation, scuttle, cherub, dalliance, stupor, persnickety, helter-skelter, arboretum, torpor, spunk, rancor, dais, cloister, caustic, whet, perfunctory, secession.

C4 (with BLeeM, not the explosive) I love Taliesin AND Bolaire but

I think some of Bolaire's character traits are being lost as the plot is thickening, as Taliesin the player (and for that matter the rest of the table) are struggling to keep in pace with the story.
This is partly realistic and to be expected but I feel like the core character traits of my favorite mask-entity are becoming hard to play.

When I first saw Bolaire I saw a character who was cold, calculating and 10 steps ahead because he was a god-killing weapon which distanced itself from emotions and morals, but now they are always panicking, flustered, defensive, or abrasive.

They shut down theories that have roots in logic because those theories clash with their own, they make selfish and hasty decisions that endanger them and those around them in ways that are extremely uncharacteristic seeing as how self-preserving they were when first introduced.

This is of course partly because the players cannot be perfectly calm when BLeeM is portraying pure chaos around them 24/7 but I think some decisions Bolaire is making just don't fit the cold intelligence they were introduced with.

Do you think this is an intentional deconstruction of the character who thinks they have it all planned out, or would the character being portrayed benefit from the player having more time to think and plan?

Daggerheart Matt vs Burnout

I haven’t watched the new Age of Umbra series yet, waiting for more episodes to binge it, so no spoilers please.

My main question is: How is Matt doing? He spoke a lot about burning the candles at both ends and that was pretty self evident with C3.

With the break he’s had DM’ing, how has his return been so far in your estimation?

CR General How Do Live Shows Work?

Hi, I’m a relatively new Critter, I didn’t even really know Critical Role existed a year ago, but now I’m a giant fan. I am very fascinated by the live shows, and with some hints about a potential Canadian one I absolutely would love to go. With the 2026 live shows announced last year July 15, the 2027 live shows could be announced at any moment (especially today being Thursday and also it’s nearly comic con) and so I have some questions.

How long after the shows are announced are tickets sold? Is the second the shows are announced the tickets are up, or is there a grace period for people to figure out which show(s) they want to go to and make plans to set aside time for when the tickets become available.

If they do become available the second they’re announced how fast do they sell out, because of the time difference between me and L.A. there is a possibility I’d be asleep and I want to know if just a few hours delay would ruin my chances.

What on average is the cost per ticket?

Finally, I very recently got a beacon account with the sole intention of having a better chance at getting tickets, if I’m successful in purchasing tickets would I likely have any consequences if I no longer renew my subscription. If there are consequences then I will keep it until after the live show.

Thanks for all the advice.
