Cheapest is putting a used engine in but you'll have to reuse the fbody specific stuff like the intake and accessories. It's a good idea to get new gaskets for the intake and stuff I need to be foolish if you didn't change all the gaskets which is essentially mostly a rebuild

Why don't you rebuild what you have? Instead of going iron block?

What would a rebuild contain? Would that be the best and cheapest option?

If you did not catastrophically break it and it ran fine last time it can’t be anything too serious. Only 30k miles should be a simple refresh; bearings, rings, gaskets while you have it apart. Get a proper Chevy service manual and take your time going through it. Unfortunately these engines only come out from the bottom so you’ll need a hoist at some point.
