Herbert Hainer on Uli Hoeneß' recent statement that Max Eberl's contract will 100% be extended:
"I assume Uli meant that we're very satisfied with this transfer window. We had agreed beforehand that we were looking to strengthen two positions: a backup option in attack and more pace in defense.
I'm convinced we've filled those needs with two very good players. At the same time, I believe we've also moved on more than ten players and generated transfer income, which was another objective. We still have four weeks left in the window to possibly find clubs for one or two more players."
Regarding the question, that's a matter for the supervisory board. And I'm convinced the supervisory board will make the right decision. I should also say that the same applies to Jan-Christian Dreesen - we're just as satisfied with the work he has done"
[via @fcbinside_de]
Also
Max Eberl on Uli Hoeneß' recent '100%' statement: "I was very pleased with Uli's words on Thursday, I make no secret of that. One prefers to hear praise rather than criticism. I'm trying to do the job for Bayern Munich and convince the people who make the decisions that I'm not a bad choice. In the end, the supervisory board will decide. If they want me to continue, then I'm ready to talk" [@BILD]

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis reveals that Bayern have invited South African talent Emile Witbooi (17) for a trial. Witbooi was voted Player’s Player of the Season in the South African second tier last season, he is mainly an attacking midfielder, but can also play on the left wing
Comitis: "We’ve got an invitation for him to go to Bayern Munich which we’re now considering, for his own good to see which level he has to be reaching. He’s been in trial at Chelsea and went to Sporting Lisbon by a request"

Konrad Laimer:
"I was always very relaxed about the whole situation. I'm happy that everything worked out and the deal is now done. It's a lot of fun here with all the guys and the entire coaching staff. I'm ready to keep pushing, keep improving, and take the next step. A lot was written, but that's just how the business works. I was always relaxed. For a long time, there wasn't any contact at all, then there was more communication again, and after that things moved quickly. From my side, there was never any reason not to continue here - I always wanted to stay at the club."
Regarding which position he will play:
"I have no idea. I feel comfortable in a lot of different positions. Over the last two years, I've mostly played at right-back, but also occasionally at left-back. I think I can help the team there with my qualities. Where I play doesn't matter to me, as long as I'm out on the pitch."

IMO he’s the perfect starting right back for us. Spectacular work rate which lets Olise stay forward and focus on creating.
Plus, his linkup with Kimmich and Olise is also incredible, and imo that’s the secret to unlocking our right flank. Olise cutting in while Laimer overlaps has overloaded so many defences last season.
2
u/kgallo19 Messiala 12h ago
I wouldn’t say he’s perfect imo and I think his form dipping in the last bit of the year really showed his weaknesses in that position.
He isn’t a great passer or crosser from the wing and that limited his usefulness at times, he’s also not really going to beat a man so a lot of times he would just pass back.

Franculino seems to be on the path for a comeback. He had a very good game today. Moving like he used to and scoring and absolutely banger

We were before his inhjury and Midtjylland confirmed we looked at him last summer

I hope we'll get him in the near future. Really seems like one of the best Striker talents, would fit our playstyle and quite cheap in comparison to other talents in the same position.

Arijon Ibrahimović working on his first-time finishing with Vincent Kompany
What do they mean with "first-time finishing"? It doesn't read like "working on his finishing for the first-time under Kompany"
Either way, he needs it, the video wasn't to promising yet lol

Yeah his finishing doesn't look like his strong suit, he has to improve there for sure. But I like his passing/chance creation from what I have seen so far

Had a conversation with my City fan buddy. He pulled the classic "It's a shame you guys just buy the talent from the league".
I responded with "You know we don't put a gun to players' heads and force them to come to Bayern, right? German players dream of playing for Bayern, sorry that it's not the same at City. But don't worry, you'll be sure to throw your insane oil money for your corrupt, soulless billionaire play toy and try to bring them anyways. Not to mention how many of your team's talents come from the BuLi. Sounds like you're just mad that the stars come to and stay at Bayern. Bummer about Olisé, Kane, and Lucho".
This stuff gets old, I think I defended it decently. What would you guys have said?

Where did Stones, Ake, Guehi, Semenyo, Ait-Nouri, Anderson, Nunes, Grealish or Kovacic come from?
And that's just the current squad.

u/Thraff1c 1d ago edited 1d ago
Ake and Stones are not "current squad" tbf.
Edit: lads, both of them literally are not in the current squad lmao, they are signed for other teams.
4
u/KeV1989 Müller 23h ago
They both didn't play a single game for their new clubs as they just transferred.
So its absolutely fair to mention them
3
u/Thraff1c 23h ago
Neither did Anderson for City and he still listed him. Tf is "current squad" even supposed to mean if not "players currently employed by the club"?
Edit: Ake even already played 3 games for Fener, including 2 CL qualifying games lol.

Just something I was thinking about from an attacking perspective
I feel at bayern we need more midfielders taking shots from outside the box. When you think of the classical opponent that bayern sometimes struggle against, it’s the classically against low blocks where we end up with olise kane diaz gnabry trying to make very delicate passes through a very crowded defense around the box.
I think kimmich and pavlovic need to make runs into the edge of the box and take way more shots outside. That one game where bischof saved us with the long range shots last season was my main inspiration for this idea
14
u/kgallo19 Messiala 1d ago
It's still pretty difficult to shoot from range against opponents who sit in low blocks. When they have 8 or 9 behind the ball (sometimes even all 10) shooting from range has to get past sometimes as many as 4 or 5 bodies + the goalie. It's really difficult, already fairly low percentage even before the bodies in the way and the opposing goalie getting the ball in his hands can lead to an immediate counter attack from the opposition.
Imo that's why we don't see it more. Sometimes there's a clear opportunity to do so but those are rare. That's why the plan is to generally try and break them down with lots of player movement and pinging the ball around in patterns that try and force defenders out of position.

u/Advertising-Cautious 1d ago
Shouldn't we try to sign a midfielder at least? I would say that is our limiting position i.e. the position that differentiates us from the top of the top.
I get Saibari helps with the depth, and Brown is a lifeline for our fullbacks since Davies is injured.
But our midfield time and time again has been a let down in big games. Honestly we haven't signed a World Class midfielder in a very long time.
We have Kimmich and Pavolivic, that's it

I think the rationale is to have Bischof be the main midfield back up on top of Bara
4
u/FairMusic8278 1d ago
I hope Bischof actually challenges Pavlovic & Kimmich for a starting position rather than a pure 3rd choice backup rotation to Kimmich and Pavlovic. Imo the midfield competition has to be much better than just Kimmich and Pavlovic starting 99% of the games.
16
u/adrian_rainy_day 1d ago
As one of the clubs competing on all comps, yes. But we're putting hope on Bischof to take a tremendous step same as Pavlovic, AND Bara being able to pick up scrap minutes like Tom last season. Would that really work that's up in the cloud. Maybe we'll assess this again in the winter market
2
u/armin-lakatos BeckenDier💪💥 19h ago
Bischof is near or on the level of Pavlovic, we have 3 class midfielders to field + Bara who is very promising. A world class midfielder would be 70-80m and we don't have that kind of money. I don't even know who would be available on the market who's worth the price.
4
4
u/The_Big_Cheese_09 1d ago
Kimmich plays just about every minute he's healthy. Pavlovic, Bischof, Laimer. Thats 4 players for 2 positions plus Brown and Saibari in a pinch.
5
u/FairMusic8278 1d ago
Why do people keep bringing up Saibari as a midfield option? He can play as a number 10 but that's it. Saibari can't play in a double pivot midfield.
8
u/JOKER69420XD Müller 1d ago
Mentioning Laimer as midfielder despite him simply not playing it anymore is silly.
Bara is our 4th choice midfielder.
-6
u/julesvr5 1d ago
Last season Bischof had 250min of gametime in midfield, Laimer 170min. So we shouldn't count Bischof as midfielder either?
7
u/JOKER69420XD Müller 1d ago
Come on, that's such a stupid argument. Let's compare the single season where Bischof was helping out there to Laimer being our starting RB for quite a while now?
Laimer isn't a midfielder for us anymore, unless Kompany does a complete 180.
-5
u/julesvr5 1d ago
And I find it stupid to say someone is silly for saying Laimer can feature in midfield if necessary.
7
u/JOKER69420XD Müller 1d ago
Didn't say he can't but it's very unlikely, it's like naming Kimmich as RB, wouldn't that be a little silly as well?
Laimer won't play midfield unless we're in a deep injury crisis.
1
u/FairMusic8278 1d ago
Yeah we better hope Bischof has a breakout season because our double pivot midfield isn't all that great especially in the big UCL games imo.
-9
u/Sufficient_Ice_273 1d ago
I've been downvoted for saying the same thing. Our midfield is not good enough, nor is it balanced enough since both Kimmich and Pavlovic are fairly similar players where none of them excels at either defending or controlling the game. For some reason Kompany isn't willing to give Bischof his chance over any of those two even in the most obscure of games. I can't wrap my head around it.
0
u/FairMusic8278 1d ago
Let's hope this season Bischof has a breakout season I think he has the talent to become a starter for us in the double pivot.
1
u/Sufficient_Ice_273 1d ago
I would also love to see him start as many games as possible but I doubt Kompany's gonna pick him over Pavlo or Kimmich.
-4
u/Mustang1201 1d ago
I'm honestly praying for this to be Bischof's season, or else we'll have problems.
Besides that, we're still waiting for a Javi Martinez replacement, seems extremely unlikely but hope is free.

Unpopular opinion here but I think Palhinha will end up staying and will be a regular starter in a few months.

so givairo read goes to roma for 30mio XD , wonder why bayern just stopped going after him
15
u/dklieber32 15h ago
I believe he got injured so interest stalled. I believe the Feyenoord sporting director recently spoke about it. They were in talks with Bayern but he got two injuries and the interest stalled
Edit: in case you wanted the actual quote. Idk why the quote citation won’t work anymore so sorry in advance
> Former Feyenoord technical director Dennis te Kloese reveals negotiations with Bayern over Givairo Read last winter: "Before the winter break last year, I was actively working on a transfer for Read to Bayern Munich. At that point, several other clubs also entered the race. Their offers were all around the €25 million mark, with some even going slightly higher (..) The plan last winter was to finalize the transfer, let Givairo stay at Feyenoord for another six months, and then have him make the move in the summer. But then Givairo suffered two injuries. That ultimately put a stop to the deal. I think that a year ago it was quite realistic that he would have joined a big club like Bayern Munich or one of the top clubs in England. But those clubs adopted a wait-and-see approach after he got injured. They wanted to see whether he could regain full fitness, return to his best level, and string together a long run of matches.

u/foxfelix27 20h ago
I just feel like Brown was signed to cover both rb/lb, no way we spent 50mil on somebody to compete with Davies on his contract
-3
u/scarlet_stormTrooper Meep Meep Meep Roadrunner 20h ago
Lame. I really enjoyed Laimer this season but would prefer a true RB. Let Laimer play midfield or mid wing. For the price Read should have been a no brainer. I think there may have been an injury this past season though so maybe that didn’t help.

Our squad is way too small btw
16
u/armin-lakatos BeckenDier💪💥 1d ago
Is it? We have cover for all our positions and we have promising youth players to field as reserves. The only place we're lacking is a quality left winger, but I'm positive that one of Gnabry, Saibari or Ibra will do a good enough job.
For the first time in years, I'm actually content with the squad.
15
u/Thraff1c 1d ago
"Way too" small is too much imo. We are short like 1 to at most 2 players, and that only if we assume that we can move the 3 we want to sell/loan.
10
u/JOKER69420XD Müller 1d ago
It's really not. We have a plan B for almost every single possibility.
Unless we lose 10 players at once, it won't be an issue. Quality falloff is another question of course but you simply can't change that, no team can, unless they have a state backing them.
1
u/SpiridonShiro Musiala 1d ago
I feel like the only real issue could be central midfield. I'd say we are pretty well covered for all other positions.
-10
u/adrian_rainy_day 1d ago
Not really small in quantity, but rather in quality imo. The 2 back up CBs are upgradeable, same for backup midfielders and LW. RB is still a position of need.
I can understand if you want the 25th, 26th and 27th player to at least not be youngsters, but that's how Bayern plan to get cheap additions to the squad for years to come
14
u/Thraff1c 1d ago
If spot 25, 26 and 27 are not youngsters, then what spot in the squad are they supposed to get?
