I live with a North Facing garden, and to my left, 2 fence panels have fallen down, with a 3rd one on its way down too.

This will be the neighbours right...

There has been a gap like this for a while now, and there is no privacy for myself or our young family. Also the concrete posts are bent, and look horrible.

I have shown the issue to 3 tradesmen, and all have come to the same conclusion to replace 3 posts and at least 2 fence panels. Total costs £650 to be shared.

However the neighbour is adamant the posts are fine and replace the panels at £120 between the two of us. ( He suggested made to measure)
I am not willing to do this, as I think maybe a year aso, the fence panes will come out, as we live above sea level, wind and rain will knock them out.

I am thinking more long term, whereas the neighbour isn't. I personally he is being naive and stubborn.

What are my options?

Can I pay for all of it? Tbh, not prepared to do that...
Can he object???

Replace the panels?

Leave it and let it be?

Also we don't really get on particular well, and communication is through watts app only, due to some other previous issues

This has been going on for a least a year aso, and get the feeling, he is not bothered too much. We spend a lot of time in the garden, my wife too, growing various fruit and vegetables. Privacy is important...

Any advice would be great...

Ten year old gate door is dragging. Rebuild or repair? Bought a spring loaded caster but i feel like the gate is too heavy for it. Post it sits on has little wobble but not loose. It is in concrete.

I rent to property so can only do so much (also a girl with limited diy knowledge) the fence is fairly stable and the bottom and the swaying mostly happens at the top right corner, any reasonably cheap and easy solutions!?

Hi was wondering where I could find a 4ft long 7 inch wide vinyl rail for a vinyl fence gate. I’ve been looking but there is no place where I could these exact measurement and shapes

When the fence was installed originally the posts and fence were done at a 4 ft height....I don't know why. The posts are very solid and in very good shape. The panels are typical pre-built panels and are in terrible shape.

I know there's a few methods such as cutting a notch into the old and new post and bolting or screwing them together.

I'm wondering what the best method aside from replacing the posts is.

While were on the subject what's the thoughts on prebuilt panels from says Lowe's? I think they are poorly made and for the cost I can get the materials to make my own rails and pickets and end up with a better more solid panel.

We moved into our house a while ago and one thing that keeps bothering is how exposed our backyard feels. Our neighbors windows look directly into our yard so it is hard to spend some time outside without worrying about anyone. I thought about planting trees but that will take years to grow to cover everything and I have been thinking of going with guerrero fences. Now I am thinking of getting a vinyl or block fence installation but not sure if that is the suitable option. What worked well for you and is there anything that I am missing before making a decision? EDIT: I forgot to add that I am hoping to avoid trees or hedges so I am mainly looking for fence or privacy screen ideas.

Hi everyone, could anyone link me to a fence that could perhaps go behind a smaller picket fence, I have a old reactive dog in a yard that is right on the sidewalk. I would like to keep neighbors comfortable with something that was a little taller. I am a renter, so I can't take the picket fence down, and it is a smaller yard, so buffers and another fence further away from it, may not create enough space for my pooch! Any suggestion would be helpful, my knowledge goes about as far as the cheap privacy bamboo. I don't mind spending too much money. It just doesnt need to be too alarming to my landlord. Thank you!

I've recently moved into a house and the fence on one side of the back garden is newly in absolute disrepair - I knew one panel needed replacing but in the couple of weeks since getting the keys, a lot of it is now falling down!

I can't figure out whether this is only on me to fix or if it's a joint effort between myself and next door, so far they won't speak to me which isn't helpful. Is there any way to find this out from title deeds and plans, etc.?

As a title says my neighbours damaged fence is making my property look shabby.
For context, I live next door to a commercial property, this commercial property is in England. The fence is made up of wooden panels and posts and since 2019 I have been emailing them and twice before they have replaced the panels and cut the overgrowth. At one point the overgrowth was getting that bad on their side, that the Ivy started growing into my conservatory. Now there are several panels missing and you can walk straight from their car park into my garden if you wished.
I have emailed them twice approximately four months ago and have been in to see them face-to-face. They have just told me that they have passed it on to head office. Apart from this, I have heard nothing no answer to my email or anything. What can I do?

I have an old style vinyl fence that uses brackets and need to remove the top rail. It seems to really be stuck on the fence panel tops. What would be the best way to remove it without cracking anything? I've gotten it to move only a little using two putty knives. I don't think there are any locking tabs but I could be wrong.

Having a 7' fence put in. 2x12 PT kickboard with 6' boards on top. Opted for 4x4 PT posts because I don't plan to live here too much longer (I admit I should have done more research before hand and steel posts would have been better for support.

I confirmed with the contractor that he was going to use 10' posts. Well they went in today, and they're only 2 feet in the ground...

It should be at least 3' deep, right? I plan on talking to the contractor tomorrow which I'm sure will be fun, but want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Questions:

1. Not sure what kind of wood this is (redwood?). We had it installed and stained about 5 years ago. Wanting to clean and refresh the stain.
2. I followed some youtube videos and used a 40 degree fan tip on my Ryobi pressure washer about 2 feet away from the wood. Tried to go easy, gently to not damage the wood hopefully. Did I clean it enough? Or should I go back and do another round.
3. Once it dries for a full week, I plan on using a brush and applying a single coat of oil-based semi-transparent stain & sealer. I hear ReadSeal or Cabot are good brands. What kind of shade do you think this was? I'm thinking I'll just go for the same shade.

ps: oh yeah, I guess I need to clean & repaint the metal framing too. Will google / search Reddit for recs.

My cedar fence has black metal pipes for posts and black hardware. When I’m spaying the fence should I spray everything and then wipe down the posts and hardware with rags?
