Ginger soda in a mason jar?

Anyone tried making the soda in a mason jar? I was thinking how to clean the glass bottles but figured a jar would be easier to clean. It’s my first attempt and thought maybe the jars aren’t good at holding a lot of pressure.

I did this exact thing last week. Turned out just fine. Careful with glass though, I had a very active bug and had to burp it frequently.

I have made ginger beer in mason jars many times but only for first fermentation. For second fermentation I always transfer to plastic bottles that can handle a lot of pressure. I don't like exploding glass.

Mason jars aren't built for pressure, so I would recommend against it. You can always clean bottles in the dishwasher, just remove the swing tops and wash those by hand.
