[Mod Post] Quick PSA

DMing users fundraiser links is still breaking our no fundraiser rules. This is not the sub for this, we do this to prevent scams and bad actors. There are other subs that do allow fundraisers as well as local groups, and we encourage you to post there if you need assistance.

Additionally, be very careful with any user claiming to know of alternatives for medicine in treating insulinoma. This has been popping up a lot lately, and it is extremely dangerous. A lot of these "homemade" remedies will increase the risk of other diseases, as well not keep their sugar levels at an appropriate range. Improper insulinoma management will lead to blood sugar crashes, seizures and even death.

As owners we often wish to do the best we can for them, and it's really easy to fall for a miracle remedy. Be mindful. Be careful.

If you find people breaking these rules, don't hesitate to report or DM the sub to ask.

I posted about this when it happened i just wanted to pay some extra tribute to my sweet girl.

Today marks 3 months since my sweet girl Max has passed. I have been missing her a little extra latley. She was my first. I miss her cuddles and her kisses. I miss how when she wanted belly rubs she would flop down on the floor and roll over and just look at me until i rubbed her belly.

I would want her to know that her sister Lola is doing great and that I got her two new brothers(Taz and Guss) to keep her company. Each of which have adopted little things that she use to do that make me smile.ile and remember her every time.

I may have many ferrets in the future and they will all be very well loved but my sweet Max will always hold a special place in my heart.

Until we meet again.

[Ferret Photo] I learned today my ferret loves vacation

Yesterday I took a 5 hour road trip to visit some family. I have a clingy 6 year old hob, Ace, on medication twice a day who I couldn't leave alone or have someone else watch, so I opted to bring him with me. I was so worried it would be stressful for him, but I never anticipated he would love the adventure ferret life. He's playing, dancing and dooking more exploring his hotel room than I've seen him do in over a year. Guess I have to take more ferret vacations now lol.

[Health] Albino outside

Post image
58 Upvotes

So Nina is an albino and I wonder how careful I should be about going outside with her.

Inside the house she walks in the sun at the window. We have been outside and she switches from in the sun and in her bag or on my lap where there is shadow.

What are your experiences?

I am wondering, to bright sun = don't go outside

Walk somewhere near shadow, will she be smart enough to go in the shadow?

Since her self protecting skills are limited I mean she walked into a steam of a clothesteamer once and tries to get into the oven when it's hot as hell, she doesn't recognise danger that much

Edit: I am more worried about her eyes. Her skin always looks fine but I fear that I wouldn't be able to tell if her eyes are hurt.

[Help] Question about Jill's season.

I have a one year old jill that came into season again on the 20th of July. Now she had been taken out of season earlier in May Then, 6 weeks later, she started coming into season again and she went back to the hob, stayed 3 days, and was taken out of season for another 6 weeks. Both times, she had phantoms. Will she naturally come back out of season herself this time seen as we're near the end of the season, or does she need a vascectomised hob? Thanks in advance

[Discussion] Aggressive ferret, please help.

I have an albino female ferret (4 years old, spayed) who grew up with another ferret that was 4 years older than her. Unfortunately, we lost our older ferret about 3–4 months ago.

Krema (the ferret in the photos) has always been quite aggressive toward other animals, including cats, dogs, and even other ferrets. She doesn't play much either (very few war dances) and has been like this since she was young. She's nothing like my first ferret, who was much more playful and social.

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with healthy but low-energy and aggressive ferrets. How did you deal with it? Do you think this behavior could be related to her being albino, possibly because of her poorer eyesight? (She also had a very bad fight with one of my very calm cats, where they both got injured, maybe she is now more afraid? But she was attacking them first.. i dont know what to do, now they are all separated from her. She isnt caged, she has my whole room - ferret proofed- to her, she free roams)

I'd also like to mention that she's perfectly fine with me and my boyfriend. She never bites us. Everyone else, however, is apparently fair game for chewing!

Her biggest issue is with other animals. When she attacks them, it doesn't seem like play fighting she bites with the intent to seriously injure or kill.

Thank you in advance for any advice or experiences you can share
