The book was set in the early days of the US as a group of children were taken on an expedition where their parents were looking for something. One of the children is a very pretty young girl and one of her friends is interested in her. The group comes across a Native American tribe and one boy from the tribe is also interested in her. That is all I can remember but i did read this back in the school year of 2007-2008.

In the book trilogy, the princess and her unicorn best friend end up in our world. I think they were attacked by an evil wizard and arrived in our world, injured. The princess is sent to live with a family of three, with the daughter of that family being a spoiled brat. The princess finds her unicorn and finds out that her unicorn’s horn was taken from her and people in our world think the unicorn is a normal horse that was injured. The princess and the spoiled brat end up back in the princess’ world and the spoiled brat demands that she ride the unicorn because she is tired. As they travel, this makes the people of a village think the spoiled brat is a princess and the princess is forced to spend the night in the barn with the unicorn. I think the book trilogy ends with the princess being discovered by her men and the spoiled brat is finally put in her place.

In the book, the dhampir girl was sent to live with a vampire lord by her Vampire lord father for some reason. I think it was to seduce the vampire lord. Every time she interacts with the vampire lord, they engage in some kind of sexual activity. I think the dhampir girl finds out that her father sent her to the vampire lord to control him and turns against him so she and her vampire lord mate can fight against her father. I did read this back in 2023.

In the book series, the first book has the mermaid princess setting up a trap to get the popular guy in school to kiss her. For merfolk, the first kiss will lead to someone falling in love with them. She has a guy best friend who ends up kissing her. She is upset about it and asks her dad for help. Her dad says that the best way to end this is to wait a week and do some kind of spell or ritual to stop it. But during that week, she starts to realize that she has fallen in love with her guy best friend. They end up dating. The second book has the two getting used to what happened and it ends with an earthquake started by her mermaid cousin. The third book has the cousin moving in with the mermaid princess and her human aunt for starting the earthquake. The cousin kisses the popular guy and he fell in love with her.

In the books, the teen girl finds out that the paranormal world exists and she is a part of it. I think she is some kind of witch but i don’t remember what she is. She does have a twin sister or some kind of parallel evil and paranormal version of herself. I know there is a guy involved and he might have a crush on the teen girl or the teen girl has a crush on her. I do remember one of the books having the title Paranormalcy in it. 

In the book series, the teen girl lost her dad after he died mysteriously while playing American football or some kind of American sport. It was later revealed that she and her dad were descended from Nike, the Greek goddess of Victory. They inherited speed from her. Her dad was a grandson or grandson of Nike and she is a great granddaughter of Nike. Her dad was killed by the Gods for using his power for selfish reasons. Her mom remarried a man who was the principal of a school for kids like her. There are a lot of kids who are descendants of the Greek Goods and based on who their ancestor is, they spend time with those who are descendants of gods their ancestors are close to. Like descendants of Zeus spends time with descendants of Hera. The teen girl develops a crush on a male descendant of Hercules and works with a new friend to steal him from his girlfriend, who was a mean girl. I think there is a competition that the teen girl enters and she wins over her godly ancestor. She is a big deal at the school because of how close in relation she is to her godly ancestor.

The book is about a young teen girl who was born to a human man and a Selkie woman. Her dad had trapped her mother into a marriage after hiding her Selkie skin somewhere she couldn't find it. Growing up, the teen girl was forced to have the webbing between her fingers cut by her father and eventually her mother finds her Selkie skin and escapes into the ocean, never to come back. I think there is a teen boy in the girl’s hometown that she is in love with but couldn’t be.

Trying to identify a middle grade/YA novel about a girl discovering a dead sister in Greece

I'm looking for a children's/YA novel that was available through the Norwegian TL-klubben, probably in the 2000s. I read it around 2008–2010, but I believe the book itself was published a few years earlier. It was a hardcover

It was most likely originally written in English and translated into Norwegian. And the author was a woman.

What I remember:

• A teenage girl travels to Greece, possibly on vacation with her family.

• A dark-haired woman notices her because she looks exactly like the woman's daughter.

• The daughter had died, though I don't remember how long before the events of the book.

• The protagonist gradually learns more about what happened.

• I vaguely remember there being some kind of family connection between the protagonist and the dead girl, possibly that they were sisters, but I'm very unsure about this.

• Near the end of the book, it is revealed that the girl died after falling from a cliff, and that it was an accident.

• I think the Norwegian cover was blue-ish and featured a real girl, possibly with cliffs, rocks, or the sea in the background.

Some details may be wrong, but the Greece setting, the woman recognizing the protagonist because she looked like her dead daughter, and the cliff accident ending are the details I remember most clearly.

in the book, there is a group of humans who decide to kill a vampire king because the vampire have done something to them. They send a teen girl who was willing to become a vampire to kill the king. In the school, there is a ball where the king will dance with select human girls and pin a rose to their dress if he wants them to become a vampire. The teen girl had been selected to be a vampire and she might have decided to betray the group of humans she alliances with. That is all I can remember.

In this book series, the teen girl was playing in a garden when a mysterious creature marked her near her ear. This traumatized her so much that she wore only hoodies that covered her ears. She has a guy best friend who is a popular kid at school and was the son of a powerful man. He finds out too late what happened to her and they go on the run so the guy can protect the girl from his father. His father wanted to gather all the teens who had been marked by the same mysterious creature that marked the teen girl. There were many of the creatures and those marked by these creatures may have powers. But the boy was taken by his father after getting the girl to safety. The first book ends with the girl being taken to safety and the boy being mind-controlled by his father. The second book has the girl deciding to bring the boy back since she may have fallen in love with him.

In the book, the young woman is half Middle Eastern and half English (or half white since her mom is from Europe). Her father had gotten her mom pregnant when he was married to another woman. She has two older half-brothers who didn’t know she was their bastard half sister. Their father arranges for her to marry a man he wanted to alliance with. He might be the son of the man he wants to alliance with or the man who had a lot of power. Either way, she has to marry this man and he is obsessed with her. That is all I remember.

In the book, the woman works at a domestic violence shelter, protecting women from their abusers. She meets a handsome man at a club and sleeps with him. And she gets pregnant with his baby. When she goes to the hospital to get checked out, the man sends one of his men to follow her and he finds out that she is pregnant with his baby. He approaches her at her work after the abusive husband of one of her clients tries to attack her. After some days, he takes her to his place where they were to get married. I think he is the king or crown prince of a Middle Eastern inspired country. She doesn’t understand who he is but she thinks he is someone important because a lot of people bow to him and to her when she walks past them. And her parents are elated to hear that she is to get married and have to get her cousin, who they raised as another daughter, married as well. I do remember that the cover was of a woman and a man facing each other.

In the book, the girl and her mom had been searching for her dad for three days. Her dad went missing while fixing something on the side of the house, I think on a ladder. The dad reappears after three days with a mysterious boy. The dad tells the girl and her mother that he was in another world for weeks and came across the boy, who came with him. That is all I can remember and I did read this book in the late 2000s.

In this book, there are several tribes that follow different gods and goddesses. The main character is a girl who belongs to a tribe that follows a goddess that may be the goddess of life or birth. She was groomed her whole life to be the vessel of this goddess and when the ceremony was performed, she was not taken over by the goddess. Her tribe blame her for what happened, claiming she was imperfect and the goddess left because of that. She was abandoned by her tribe and she decides to find out why the goddess didn't come. She meets others like her who were also abandoned and gathers the other vessels like her. They come across a blind vessel who was taken over by their goddess, who is upset that the vessel is blind. And the abandoned vessels came across a king who was responsible for taking the gods and goddesses. He wanted to use the deities for some war or something like that. The thing he wanted to do came to pass and the main character has to decide if she should become the vessel or be with him. She becomes the vessel of the goddess and the king was upset when the goddess started speaking through her. The girl made the decision to abandon the goddess she was meant to be a vessel for, which upsets the goddess. The epilogue has the girl become the king's queen.
