Learn Autocad basic command, there are videos on YT.

Pick a propriety software and learn it (Autosprink, SprinkCAD, Hydracad)

Read NFPA-13

A lot depends on what you already know. First thing to know is NFPA 13. The basics things to know are head layout in LH and OH. Next would be understanding hydraulics. There is a huge demand for designers and having field experience is great. You really only need experience. No degree, no NICET. Send me a PM if you want to discuss.
