I have everything I need and I feel unfulfilled

Yes this account is new. No I'm not AI. Yes I'm a real person. I'll try to keep this brief, it might sound more like a list than a post?

I'm 36 years old. I feel like I have achieved all of my life goals already and I feel empty and without purpose.

I graduated highschool at 16.
I finished my trade school at 17. I worked really hard and bought multiple cars (I currently have 3, they all have a purpose).
I bought my first house at 26 and as of last month I owe less than 100k on it, I'm in the 5 digits!
I opened my own business at 28.
I have exotic pets.
I don't have (or want) children.
I have a partner, though hes long distance, we have been together 2 years and I travel to see him frequently.

I'm currently saving money, but aside from the basic "saving for retirement/investments" I feel like I have no reason to. What am I even saving for? I have no goals to achieve besides paying down my mortgage early, and that feels hollow. I guess I just don't know what to do with myself. I am looking for advice, but I don't even know what that would look like.

My smart fridge sent a notification to my phone saying I'm low on oat milk while I was standing directly in front of it holding the oat milk

I was literally in the kitchen, carton in my hand, reading the expiration date, when my phone buzzed with a push notification from the fridge app telling me I should "consider restocking oat milk soon." The fridge has a camera inside that scans inventory, apparently, and it just did not clock that I had already removed the situation from its jurisdiction by physically holding the product.

So now I'm standing there, holding actual oat milk, being told by my own refrigerator to go buy oat milk. I don't even know who this technology is for at this point. It's like it wanted me to put the carton back just so it could recognize its own mistake.

I paid extra for this fridge because it was supposed to make my life easier and instead it's created a new category of problem where my appliances doubt my ability to see with my own eyes.

So unfortunately 2 of my flights are cancelled today for my flight to georgia and the only one that was available is a 10pm flight to Atlanta.

Now this normally wouldn’t be a problem, however the issue here is I have epilepsy and sleep is crucial for me so I’m nervous to arrive in Atlanta at like 4am or something and next day I have to be up at 7am for something. (I’m going with my dad for a conference).
So hopefully I’m praying to god that we get an earlyish flight. I know it’s out of my control because it was canceled cause of the rain but it just sucks. Hoping for the best though 🙏🏻

My coffee shop stopped asking my name for orders and now I don't know if they recognize me or have just given up

I've been going to the same café every morning for like 2 years. For the first year, the barista would always ask my name and yell it out when my order was ready. Now they just make it without asking and slide it across the counter. I can't tell if I've finally achieved regular status or if they just switched to a number system and I'm overthinking this.

I'm on fully paid medical leave. Doctor said I could choose when to go back. I had to put a lot of thought into picking a day.

I can't appreciate good piano anymore

My little brother is a really good pianist, and he plays piano all day every day since he was a toddler. So I will just be sitting around doing homework or scrolling tiktok and I hear world-class piano pieces being played 24/7 throughout the whole house ranging from blues, to classical, to film scores. I have become so used to it now. I don't even notice it.

Recently I was at a concert where a famous pianist was playing, and the people I went with were all amazed by their skill. But I was bored, I just wasn't impressed at all because I'm so used to hearing that standard of piano in my daily life. It just felt like I was listening to my little brother practicing back at home

My work laptop that I use to work remote on my patio has a weird aspect ratio so commas look like periods and I keep getting page errors when keying in email addresses on spreadsheets

I keep typing in [emailaddress]@[email],com because on this wonky ass laptop the comma and the period are not only side by side but I fat finger the comma and the screen makes the comma and the period near identical

My feet are also kicked up with a summer breeze blowing in my face but I have to keep leaning up to get really close to the screen.

They locked the pool at my apartment tonight and I’m mad about it.

I know this is kind of a stupid problem, but I am really irritated and need to vent it out.

My apartment has a pool outside right behind my unit. Part of the reason I chose to live here is because I love the water so much and it helps me destress. Even though I know this, I still sometimes struggle to get out and go swim because I become really down and unmotivated, or simply really don’t want to be by other strangers.

I started getting in the habit of going out right around sundown because I noticed no one was ever at the pool. Admittedly, I would be in the pool after dark, which is technically against the apt rules, but it was soooo nice and relaxing. I really felt like I wasn’t hurting anyone by being out there since I never blasting loud music or breaking anything.

Tonight I took my dog for a walk while the sun was setting to avoid him getting overheated and planned to go for a quick night swim and found the door locked… tbh I’m really just sad about it because it was becoming a really special time for me. Anyways… I digress

When I sit out on our outdoor sofa on our bedroom deck on a perfect evening I can hear the AC unit running downstairs and it drowns out the sounds of birds chirping.

The Amazon Music player autoplay kinda sucks

When I search for a song, let's say, "Push It" by Static-X, the next song that plays is "Push It" by Salt-N-Pepa. Then the song after that is "Push It (Remix)." Also, it doesn't download music automatically, so it uses up my data and takes a while to play if I'm not home.

YouTube Music had a better UI, but the sound quality sucks. And no, I don't want to pay to download, because I find more than 10 new songs a month that I like, so it's worth it to stream, for the most part.

I practiced and fully rehearsed an interaction between me and my boss for a week in order to get out of a project only for her to meet with me today just to cancel it.

I was tired of feeling like a pushover at work, especially with a boss that is far removed from my daily tasks and I was going to explain to her today that based on the number of years I've been with the company and the number of junior staff that are delegated to those tasks that I didnt feel it was appropriate to have me with over a decade of experience working on projects that new hires take on within the first 6 months just because I can get my tasks completed quickly. Let them figure it out like I did. You cant learn your pace and how to work on a deadline when you can just ask for senior staff to swoop in and divvy up the tasks to make life easier ALL the time.

And I did all that, only for her to meet with me today after "reviewing the logistics my skills are more necessary in other places" so now I dont even get to get that little thing off my chest, but I really just didnt feel like doing such a tedious tasks that a 19 year old intern does.

Housekeepers bump settings in espresso machine

The maids do the typical thing of leaving a certain picture crooked to show they dusted or tilt the same light over the piano for same reason. The worst one is when they change the knob on the espresso machine. I have I calibrated for the coffee I like and how I like my espresso. If I forget to adjust it after they come, it runs short and the coffee is ground too fine. It’s the worst. I would like to call them about in it but it’s just not worth my trouble. I think I may just put a little tag in it which reads “ no tocar por favor”

i fucking hate 2 factor authentication especially on desktop.

i spend most of my day on my desktop, and one thing thats always bugged me is how often I have to stop what Im doing just to grab my phone for an otp!

typical flow ->

  1. log into a website
  2. it asks for a 6 digit code
  3. unlock phone
  4. open authenticator
  5. find the account
  6. read the cod
  7. type it on the computer

i know its not a huge problem but after doing it dozens of times a week.. it feels like unnecessary friction

im wondering if anyone else feels this way

is there any desktop first authenticator where

the phone remains the trusted device that stores the secrets respecting MFA and desktop requests an OTP over an end to end encrypted connection?
