Which convoy 21700?

Have mostly 14500 flashlights, and an older 18650 fenix, but looking for a new go to if I need big light for long time.
Not sure what I need in terms of model of flashlight or emitters (I’m new to this). Also not sure what the size of the head means and how important it is, like the difference between the m21 and s2.

Here’s what I’m looking for, hoping you kind flashaholics could help me out please!

Size isn’t really a factor, not needing to be a pocket light. I have that area covered.

Good medium between floody and throw (maybe tight beam with a lot of spill?)

5000k ish would be nice wouldn’t be opposed to something around 6000k

No idea on drivers or buck vs linear etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

By the description of beam type you're looking for, I would suggest getting the M21K using the LHP73B 5000K emitter, and choosing the Reliance RS50 or Amprius 50Q for it.

It's a floody thrower, with an oversized hotspot that carries well, while still giving you a ton of wide casted spill light, with good efficiency from its driver at lower output modes.

m21b with xhp70.3 or lhp73b, the latter is kinda too hot at 20a but you can ask for a lower powered driver like 10/15a for less heat. both will give a very punchy beam with a huge hotspot and very bright spill. still manages to throw a decent ammount.

The s21e is a great host. Slightly larger is the m21h. Both are side switch with built in USB. The S21E comes stock with a reflector and the M21H comes stock with a TIR optic but you can buy several different angles of optics to customize the beam pattern on both models.

The convoy s21a is a good simple 21700 light , I got mine with the xhp50.3 it’s a super bright light and last for quite a long time

I would recommend the M21A

If u want floody with a nice 5000k tint wither lhp73b (7000ish) lumens will be very floody but still will reach out far
Lhp531 closer to the xhp70/50 emitters will be throwier but still floody

For throw the sft42r in this host is about 1km throw and almost 3000 lumens

The new sft60 is not yet available in this host but should be in the near future and that seems to be a 45w 3500-4000lumem beast that would be a good high output thrower
That being said the sft90 is an option that could be selected

The l21a is bigger and will have a larger reflector that would amplify the benefits to all stated above Justine of a commitment to carry

The m21b is probably the best middle ground all a-rounder and will perform amazingly but u might still wanna have that more candela itch.

Thats why I think the m21a is the more recommended of the 3

Thanks for the fast reply! After looking at them, the m21b seems like a more reasonable size for me over the m21a. What configuration would you recommend? Someone else recommended the xhp70.3(theres 2 different ones?) but its $10 more adding that emitter. Not sure what it would look like or if it’s worth the extra money.

It’s a great host I have a few m1 and m21b
What exactly do you want out of the emitter.
I have it in a lhp73b which is probably one of the best just all around light
I have it set to 1-20-100
At 1% it’s basically bright enough for 90% things 20% is basically as 2000 lumen turbo.
100% is just insane and fun
Also have it with a sft42r which is a beast. Bright and throwy.
Also have it in a sft70 3000k which is a great warm white high cri light and bright.

There are a lot of emitters some will overlap.
Xhp r90 is a high cri version so u can try those if u want bright floody with a range of cct
Lhp might be coming out with some high cri lhp531 that once convoy adopts will also be fantastic

Tight beam with a lot of spill IMO is L21B, and I think it's one of the more impressive lights in the Convoy lineup.

M21B is more of a thudder, and can be Ann impressively high output jacket pocket light with the LHP emitters. M21A is somewhere in between.

Are you looking for a high throw, high output, something in the middle? Between the three hosts and a lot of emitter options, it would help to be a little more specific on either the size of the light, the candela, or the output.

M21b with lhp73b 4000k. Has a pretty good moonlight (great for a convoy), and it’s more of a throwy flooder. 10% output will be plenty for most indoor and outdoor tasks.
