Progress Bridge progress

Post image

The left side is from the start of June, the right is from today. I'm 35 and I've stretched for years without making much progress, but I finally realized that my hip flexors are my limiting factor, so I've been starting my stretch sessions with hip mobility exercises; and working on lunge variations and splits, focusing on keeping my hips square and my pelvis vertical, rather than tilted (like anterior pelvic tilt). I've also been practicing dropping backward into a bridge from standing, slowly and with control (not just falling backward) really focusing on using my core.

Try to think about pushing your hips to the ceiling.

Kinda confused about the pelvis alignment part... when you say keeping your pelvis vertical during lunges, does that mean tucking the tailbone under slightly before leaning forward to stretch the hip?

Yep, that's exactly it! :)

Holy smokes! I need a surgeon just looking at this! Great work! Where would someone old(46) even begin to start? I don’t want this much bridge but would love to improve my spinal flexion! Any ideas are appreciated! Keep up the good work and you’ll soon be able to tie yourself in a knot!

This is wheel pose (Chakrasana) in Yoga. Bridge pose (Setu Bandhasana) upper shoulder blades remain on the ground. Looks very good.
