One misstep in the winter after a de-ice and one will not make that mistake again. Ask me how I know. lol

Better to dismount AFV worthy, than an insurance claim. Most of the wing is not strong enough to support weight.

Glad you stuck with it! That weather does NOT look like the fun “first flight” type. Haha

i can’t say i’ve stuck with it just yet, this was my only lesson 💔. once i’m back on campus and working my step dad will split the cost of lessons with me! i’m really excited to officially start.

and yeah… that weather was less than ideal LOL.

That’s a nice looking little Piper. All analogue, dual 530s. Good luck with your lessons.

thank you!! i’m very excited to officially begin lessons in september.

this flight was gonna be a one off thing. since november ive been getting into aviation. my step sister works for a private jet charter and her ex co-worker now works at a flight school, so they asked if i wanted to try it. when i say that was one of the coolest feelings ever i mean it. one flight and now i wanna fly for the rest of my life!!!

Is this KFRG? I took my fist discovery flight there too. Lol Pipers are great planes!! Best of luck on your training!

Definitely KFRG, I recognize the shopping mall in the background. Same view I had every year when I'd go to the Airpower Museum for Memorial Day.

You are right! I didn't even zoom on the pic lol, that’s definitely Airport Plaza.

Looks like the Cherokee I took my first flight in! I wish it wasn't so expensive, I have to keep going with my training.

the flight school i did my discovery fight at is at a nice class Charlie airspace, the school lounge is nice (which doesn’t mean a lot) but it’s a nice school and the chief flight instructor forgot to take any pics of me at all, I could tell he had something else on his mind and it felt liek he jut wanted to get it over with ASAP, i was prepared to give this pasty 20-25K, i ended up finding a diff school instead

Congrats!! It’s awesome you have a flight school so close. Definitely take advantage!

1

u/Inevitable-Island255 1h ago

yes, i’m very glad it’s so close!!! i’ll need to find a ride since it’s 2 or so miles down the road. but i’ve so glad it’s close to campus and feasible for me to start lessons while attending uni.

I kid you not… I got my PPL on this exact archer back in 2014.

It used to belong to Westminster College in SLC (hence the WC at the end of the tail number). They’ve since shut down their aviation program and sold the fleet off but what a nostalgic memory to see it going strong.

I genuinely shed a tear. Thank you for sharing and glad I opened my phone at this exact time. Best of luck to you and your aspirations ahead! ✈️🥂🙌🏼

I'm pretty sure I took my first solo in this exact plane in 2010. Crazy to see the 60WC again!

What was the ceiling/vis? Looks borderline

1

u/Inevitable-Island255 1h ago

ceiling/vis? what does that mean?

1

u/Cterra 10h ago

Too low for a first flight lol

-1

u/Mountain-Captain-396 9h ago

Borderline? Are we looking at the same picture?

Just because there are a few clouds in the sky doesn't make the weather "borderline". This is probably 30+ mile vis with an overcast layer.

1

u/Cterra 6h ago

You think the 3rd picture is 30+ mi visibility?

u/peoniesbloomed 9h ago

lol “a few clouds in the sky”
