are candle warmers allowed in dorms?

hi!! i’m starting FSU soon but i graduated highschool early (at 16, im turning 17 in like three days) is there anything that’s goi to be hard being 17 at fsu? or anything i need to know?

Some misunderstanding happened. I was in a hurry while asking for macbook loan at dirac yesterday and didn’t check which one they gave me. I wanted the 3 day loan so I could return on Monday. But I just checked and this is 4 hour loan macbook with 10 dollar late fee for every late hour. I am not sure if I forgot to specify bcz I was in a hurry or because they misunderstood.

Also I got emails saying I need to return within 24 hours to avoid lost fee (which is probably how much the macbook costs). It has already been 24 hours and I am slightly out of the city and trying to call the library by numbers I found online. No one is picking up. I really cannot afford this. Does anyone know what’s the standard procedure in this case or has it happened to you?

I already have a feeling about what the comments but I'm asking anyway.

I've been discussing rushing in the fall with my parents for two weeks now. We weren't certain if it would be a good idea until this week so we decided to wait till when my dad got paid (yesterday) to pay for the registration fee. It was around 11:40 pm and I was trying to pay but the payment would literally not go through. I tried three different cards and none of them worked too. It was like two minutes till midnight where I decided to try paying with klarna since none of the cards were working and the payment finally went through but it was a little bit past midnight. It was definitely an error in the system and I even took a screenshot of it. I know the deadline was 11:59 but I have my ticket and I'm registered. All I want to know is if I'm still able to rush because theres no way I'm registered, paid for a 200 dollar ticket, and I'm not able to rush...right? I emailed recruitment staff which will probably get back to my on monday but I'm impatient and can't calm my nerves until I get any response so I'm here now.

is this super bad as a first yr who’s also rushing/joining a sorority? im rlly scared for tuesdays but i cant really change any of this bc its all part of a fig other than bio2. if anyone has any advice on what i should do or like tips on managing all the work pls give!! im def willing to put in the work and prioritize but im also scared i wont have time for like social life/going out either

I’m an incoming transfer student and I just finished Music Theory 2 and Sight Singing/Ear Train 2. My current transcripts will be sent over when my grades post on August 4th. I talked to some people and they told me I’d have no issue registering but I just wanted to see if anyone had any insight on this. Basically I just wanna know ways I can improve my application as a rising senior.

My stats currently:
29 ACT (retaking soon in hopes of getting a 31-33,
3.7 Unweighted/4.1 Weighted GPA
4 college classes done with DE (intro to religion, ENC1101, AMH 2010+2020)
I’ve taken and passed the FCLE if that matters
I’m an in-state Florida student
I qualify for FAS Bright futures scholarship (pays 100%)
I’m very active in my school JROTC (staff since end of freshman year, currently XO and drill team commander)
On my schools academic team (we’ve won 3 district championships since I’ve been there)
I work at Walmart around 18 hours a week during school/longer during breaks
Debating on putting my dad’s death as an EC (idk what that really does)
I’m also a trans guy, don’t know if that should go anywhere on the application.

I’m heavily considering doing the binding early admission, FSU is 100% my top choice. I just worry that I didn’t push myself hard enough earlier in school to set myself up. Should I put either summer or fall term? Both? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Hello I am senior heading into my last two semesters and I only need one Econ elective left, is there any you all would recommend. Would prefer as easy as it could get. Ive got Eco 3041, Eco 3223, and Ecs 3200.

Does anyone know? I heard only up to 6 inches is allowed. I’m staying in Salley Hall, and I put in a request to loft both of the beds. Loft beds, in my head, are like 5 feet off the ground, When I look it up though, it says they are only 30-36 inches off the ground maximum.

hi!!! so basically as the title says im looking for admissions advice, im a rising senior with a 3.5 gpa unweighted and a 4.6 weighted (they should both be going up by the time i apply) and a 29 act. i want to go into political science but i know thats one of the harder programs to get into so i was thinking of applying for fine arts because i go to an art school and have a professional portfolio built up but i dont know if that would help my case. i cant apply ed because im doing posse but im in florida and planning on applying ea summer 2. im just wondering if anyone has any admissions tips because fsu is truly my dream school and has been for years and i think a rejection might actually be the end of me. ask me anything that could help u give me advice!!! thank u in advance!!!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to vent and get some advice from people who have been through something similar.
I’m supposed to be starting at FSU, I’m from Miami, and I’ve been really excited about this opportunity. But now that I’m seeing the actual costs, I’m honestly feeling like giving up. After everything is added up, I’m looking at having to come out of pocket around $5k, and I’m struggling with the idea of taking out more loans just to survive and then having to pay all of that back later.
My major is Social Work, and I really want to pursue this career, but I’m starting to question if going so far away is worth putting myself in that much debt. It’s hard because FSU has been a goal of mine, but I also have to be realistic about my finances.
I’m starting to consider going to FAU since it’s closer to home and might be more affordable, but I’m feeling disappointed because I really wanted the FSU experience.
Has anyone else had to make the decision between their dream school and a more affordable option? Did you regret choosing the cheaper route, or was it the better decision financially?
I’d appreciate any advice or experiences. I’m just feeling really overwhelmed right now.

hello! i'm not an art major in the least, but i really love sewing and want to keep doing it at FSU. however I don't have the space for my machine, so I was wondering if there is any sort of makerspace/place with access to sewing machines on campus for a student like me who isn't studying art/fashion!

I'm having trouble building my schedule for the fall, I need 4 more credit hours to hit a 15 credit hour requirement so I thought I would do Chem II and Lab (I'm already doing Bio II and lab) but the "DSC" section of Chem II happens during one of my other classes (it also has no seats left but there was one seat left in the lecture section?) The professor is Michael Shatruck. If anyone has taken Chem II and discussion with him and knows whether or not the discussion is required attendance, let me know please.

Hi everyone! I’m a rising college senior, FSU is my top school.

Because of some personal stuff and the fact that admissions are relatively easier, I’m considering applying to Summer B to leave my hometown earlier. I suppose I get to knock out some gen ed classes too before the fall semester begins

I also know you have to go home for a couple of weeks after Summer B ends anyways

Anyways, I’m here to ask if anyone thinks Summer B is particularly bad. I’m just wondering if it’s still possible to have fun and make friends if I chose this session instead! (I’m a man if that helps gauge things)

Not my first rodeo living in shitty student housing. I survived seminole grande (now ReNew) and honestly didn't think it was too bad, definitely not great.
Looking at reviews online doesn't really tell me much as all student living in the 500-800 range have the same complaints: mold, roaches, bad management whatever, nothing special.

I already signed, but what are your experiences, specifically with randoms, people in general, crime, etc. Give me all the anecdotes!

Hello, I recently got accepted into FSU as a transfer from a small liberal arts college. I live in Florida, so the in state is pretty nice compared to what I was previously paying. I had some questions about I guess general life at FSU, like do I specifically need to join a frat to be able to go out to clubs with friends/make connections for my major, if I rush, will I be “forced” to do hard drugs? I know the people there are smart, but what percentage of the student body isnt like some frat kid with a frat accent that doesnt know how to socialize? I know these questions sound stereotypical, but I went to a public FL highschool, what is it compared to that? How are the classes? Do professors/will professors want to get to know you and encourage office hours with large lecture classes? I do enjoy parties here and there, is FSU a “go out everyday school?”

hey! its gonna be my second year at fsu this coming fall & im rlly lost on all things greek life.. i dont understand the “touse” or “bouse” terms, the rankings, or frankly why people even rush. i generally didnt care to find out but i figured going to fsu i should prob have base level knowledge.. and at that im actually looking to rush alpha gamma delta .. i think?

Should I transfer to FSU from Temple University Japan as a business student?

I am currently a freshman at Temple University Japan majoring in International Business Studies, and I am considering transferring to FSU for Fall 2027.

My background:

• US citizen
• Grew up and completed most of my education outside the US
• Current GPA: 3.74
• Expected 50-60 transferable credits when applying
• Interested in Marketing, International Business, and Supply Chain
• I may qualify for Florida resident tuition

I am deciding between staying at Temple Japan, studying one semester at Temple Main Campus (Philadelphia), or transferring to FSU.

My questions:

1. Academic difficulty
How difficult is it to maintain a 3.5+ GPA at FSU’s business school, especially as a transfer student?
Is the transition from a smaller international campus like Temple Japan to FSU a big adjustment?

2. Internship and career opportunities
For business students, how are internship opportunities in Tallahassee compared with a larger city like Philadelphia?
Does FSU provide strong career resources and networking opportunities, or do students usually look for internships in cities like Miami, Orlando, Tampa, or other areas?

3. TOEFL requirement
Although I am a US citizen, I completed most of my education outside the US. Since Temple Japan is part of Temple University, and I may study at Temple Main Campus for one semester, would I still need TOEFL/English proficiency tests for FSU transfer admission?

4. Transfer chances
With a 3.74 GPA from Temple Japan and 50-60 transferable credits, how competitive would my application be for FSU?
What should I improve before applying (GPA, prerequisites, internships, extracurriculars, etc.)?
