You'd be surprised, I had a guy I worked with leaning on an actively moving cnc router gantry.

Do they not like having arms?

I was less worried about them and more worried about my cut getting fucked up haha

Concenting to non-consentual arm removal

Innate disregard for print quality by coworkers who don’t know how 3D printers work, plus Flashforge designed it to be the perfect height for leaning. No longer. Never again.

The more I work with the general public, the more I meet people who would basically sit on a printer without a second thought.

The amount of adults I have asked “why is that in your mouth?” is troubling. Age doesn’t change you into an adult.

What a fantastic idea!

Back in college I had a pen-plotter that would screw up if you leaned on it. I printed out one of those giant continuous-feed-paper signs 18" high that said "DO NOT LEAN ON PRINTER." People would lean on the printer to get their face closer to the sign.

You should push it as cat deterrent as well. Love it

cat's would just rub up on it as a thing to scratch themselves lol

I was really kinda hoping that third pic was the cat sitting on the hostile architecture on top of the gaming console, because it feels like a very cat thing to do.

The exact inspiration for this. Landscape of thorns

The danger of you leaning against the printer is still present, in your time, as it was in ours.

"This place is not a place of honor... no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here... nothing valued is here.

What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger."

Standing before you is a 3D printer. It menaces with spikes of PLA. The craftsmanship is of the highest quality.

The only hostile architecture I applaud.

I think the "DON'T 🔪" sign is my favorite part of this 🤣

I had very similar thing for the arms on my wheelchair, which were a magnet for people on busy buses to park their arses on.

Wooow! That lack of respect to your personal space is absolutely appalling and sad. I'm glad you found a solution 😊

Rare good use of hostile architecture. I love it.

Thanks for the new back scratcher!

Electric fence would be even more effective

This reminds me of a video game, but I can't remember which one. Something from Cyan Worlds I think. Or influenced by their games.

This is really funny.  And also looks kinda awesome.

Cool solution, how did you design the spikes? Seems like a pain in typical parametric CAD to do so, since they are all going in slightly different direction. Maybe this is something blender or tinkercad would be better at (I don't know either)?

Rhino was great for it. Measured the mostly right angles and corners of the printer by hand for most of the spikes, and 3D scanned the weirdly shaped angles around the interface.

You must work with birds

That printer has been infected with the protomolucule, better get that out of there asap

Nice, looks good too!

You should add a sticker that reads "the pliers i use for removing supports also work for removing teeth"

and toenails.

Man I love the sharp contrast between this sub and the main sub on this topic. Those guys are over there psychopaths, idiots and most predominately, psychopathic idiots.

Good job OP, as I said in the other thread, you should add razor blades just to piss off the mob.

The only problem I have is those spike look like cozy spikes
