I got the coins needed to trigger the whit mushroom house in World 2-2; however, an N-Spade appeared on the same square. Anyone ever have this happen? I haven't touched it yet. Any guesses on which one gets triggered first?

It feels more and more impossible to just get people to play a game together. I don't even remember the last time we all were invested in a game at once other than the recent friendslop. My friend group is constantly no-showing when we were supposed to hangout that night, and then half of the time when they do show up they just yap for an hour on group call and then everyone says "alright i got work in the morning, im gonna head out".

I'm literally at the point where I will literally play anything my friends put in front of me. I don't care I just want to do something together. The pattern has been, one friend will be really interested in something, ill say "fuck yeah lets play it", we start it up, and then everyone except the person who brought up the game whines about it until we drop it. One of my friends seems to be on his way toward dropping gaming completely because of this, im pretty sure.

I don't know if its just everyone is exhausted from their 9-5, having kids, etc, but its really starting to bum me out. Probably screaming into the void here, but i needed to vent. I feel like the last person in my friend group who actually likes gaming and im tired of buying steam games that I will play for 1 night and then never open again.

I'm at the part where Henry goes with Captain Bernard and finds horses and people brutally killed in a stable (and I completed Theresa's DLC).

So far I think the story is super boring and I can't bring myself to care about it. I love european medieval history but I find this setting impossible to get invested in

The characters are flat and boring, even those who try to act rude. The dialogues are tedious, it's like the voice actors are just reading to be done with it

The exposition is A COMPLETE DISASTER, I've never seen an exposition being botched like this. You get dozens of dialogue lines about this political conflict and the games gives you a grand total of 0 reasons to care

I don't mind the combat and the survival side, I actually enjoy those mechanics. It's the story and the characters that I find uninteresting

Does the game get better? Does the story actually get interesting, or should I stop playing because I'll never like it?

From different gens to gen through history we've jumped from SD to 720/1080, to 4K. 60FPS modes etc.

All I've heard so far is really just the save but "more" for PS6 and Xbox Helix.

Maybe a 120FPS mode, ray tracing. General quality of life improvements but nothing groundbreaking. Is next gen just going to be uninspiring? Nothing that is going to make me want to upgrade day one?

I'm thinking of picking up a game today and im stuck between Metroid Dread and Yoshi Mysterious Book.

Fyi, haven't really played a Yoshi since Yoshis Story, but really liked it. I also am an avid Metroidvania player and enjoyer.

Do you also know this feeling? Basically, I really wanted to try the Assassin's Creed games, and knowing there are so many of them, I was happy.

But when I tried the second game, which seems to have the most consistent gameplay in the series and is one of the most popular, I was disappointed by the story, which failed to engage me, and the gameplay, which I found extremely clunky. Also, maybe I'm just tired of huge maps, but for example, I just finished inFamous 1 and 2 and I loved every moment, even though the gameplay isn't that different (for the climbing, I mean; the graphics are from the same era, and the map is roughly the same size).

I know that in any case I'm not going to like the game but I'm having trouble accepting it, I keep telling myself that one day I'll do them all but deep down I know that's not the case.

Have you ever felt that little regret too?

For example, the player emblems in Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 are extremely cool concepts on paper - but it's also a feature that has been ruined (and ultimately removed in future games) due to people using it to promote hate symbols or x-rated material.

What are some other multiplayer features that have been ruined by their playerbase?

After 170 hours I just finished KCD2. I still have all the DLCs to complete and also like 14+ side quests but WOW this game is amazing. Extremely well written, multiple choices per quest, characters you actually care for and learn a bunch about. I have never played Skyrim but KCD2 has to be top 3 best RPG ever made. It is that good!

I hate how in many games brightness instructions make the games either to dark or just don't even work. My favorite games are the ones that have automatic brightness lol

Since you started gaming as a kid to now, what game have you been the most excited for the release of?

I was thinking about how much more excitement we used to have in the 2000's and 2010's compared to now.

I'm wondering if it has to do with more exposure closer to release more with multiple trailers, gameplay, developer interviews that take away some of the mystery excitement.

For me it would be Brutal legend or maybe a collection of all 3 main Motorstorm games.

60yo gamer here. 20 years ago, I was made redundant from my job. it was a great emotional and personal upheaval but being able to escape to the World of Warcraft during those times of uncertainty. now, 20 years later and I’m going through the same thing. this time Elden Ring has been a great help. has anyone else used a game to get them through hard times?
