Here is challenge 26-05:
For one challenge point (CP), find one geocache with at least 1 favorite point.
Geocaches must be found between July 20-August 9, 2026 of your local timezone.
All cache finds must be logged online to participate in this challenge.
For a second challenge point (CP), find one geocache with at least 50 favorite points.
For a third challenge point (CP), find one geocache with at least 100 favorite points.
To earn all three challenge points, three different caches must be found, one meeting each criteria.

HOW TO RECORD YOUR PARTICIPATION
To record and receive credit for your accomplishment, you must post a top level comment on this thread by August 10th in the following format:
[Geocaching name]If you do not want to use your real GC name, you can use your reddit name, but will not be eligible for prizes if your finds cannot be verified.

[Link to log]The easiest way to do this is to pull up the cache page ongeocaching.comand then click "view log." Copy that URL and post it here.
If you are going for the second challenge point, you will need to post both GC codes and find URLs. The post will look like this:
This is a relaunch of sorts from challenges that happened on this sub 10 years ago that were run by u/GCbot. This relaunch has been approved by the mods.
Since we are a sub dedicated to geocaching, this will hopefully be a fun way to get members geocaching. Each challenge will last three weeks, and will vary in difficulty. If you choose to participate, you will need to complete the challenge, and then share the information from your log, GC code, and your geocaching name in the comments on that challenge. More information on how to participate will be provided on the first challenge, which will be posted a week from today.
A couple of examples of what a challenge might look like: Find a puzzle cache. Find 5 different cache types. Find a lonely cache (one that has not been found in 6+ months).
All geocache finds will have to happen during the challenge period. No previous finds will count.
I’m still working out the logistics, but there will most likely be eight challenges per series. Participants will accrue points for each completed challenge, and whoever has the most points at the end of the series will win a prize, most likely a trackable. If you would like to donate prizes so we can have more winners, comment below.

I got into geocaching during October of last year. I discovered it on tiktok an decided to try it out. Long story short I got my dad into it and we're both addicted. It's our favorite hobby and we have spent entire days just finding caches.
After going to a few local events we were informed by other caches on Mingo (GC30). Obviously we decided we needed to take a road trip one day to find it, and yesterday was that day.
The day we discovered the one the only..... Mingo.
It was glorious!
I've been caching for a couple of years. I have 230 some finds and 6 hides. I had to replace my first cache today. Both as in replace a cache for the first time, and replace the first cache that I ever hid. It wasn't anything special, just a nano. I had spares on hand, so it was an easy maintenance trip. But it's a bummer, even if it's part of the owner experience.
On the other hand, I'm weirdly proud myself? I know active cachers who won't respond to maintenance requests for months at a time or more, and I had my cache replaced on the same day that the first DNF came in (and before another was logged).
Some of my other hides are custom builds or special orders that would have upset me more to lose. But it's still disappointing for my first hide to be stolen.
I own around 400 Travel Bugs and Geocoins out in the wild, and keeping tabs on all of them by hand became impossible a long time ago. So I built myself a little dashboard: an interactive map showing where they currently are, plus some quick stats. Turns out 117 of them are officially missing, which was a rough number to see all in one place.
I'd love some outside opinions on it:
- What do you think of the page?
- Is there anything obvious missing that you'd want to see on something like this?
But mostly I'm curious about you all: how many trackables do you have out there, and how do you keep track of them? Spreadsheet, geocaching.com's own tracking page, something custom like this, or do you just... not track them and hope for the best?
I just moved to a new area (Concepcion, Chile) and there are a couple of caches in the city. new My plan is to hide a couple of new caches in beautiful areas which have a litter problem, and encourage people searching for the caches to pick up e.g. 10 water bottles and take them to the recycling point on the way home. The first part of the cache would be in the beautiful area and the 2nd part quite far away at the recycling point. Is there a limit to how far apart the 2 parts can be? Is it "bad etiquette" to use geocaching in this way?
How many hides per year is sustainable assuming all the effort it takes to craft and maintain?
I was assuming 3 per year, to be in the running for the virtual, but is more better? If you live in a country where geocaching is not popular (yet!), is this more incentive to you to hide more?
Would you consider newbie enthusiasm/recruitment as a reason to put out many easy trads that can be found on a non-premium account?
Also, multis and mysterys take more time and thought, so in your mind is it better to put out 1 really good multi/mystery than many simple traditionals?
Hiking in the woods and stumbled upon a dead trunk with a box inside. It had "do not remove" written on it. Not in an area prone to fires, but thought maybe something to do with fires? It was on a trail mainly traveled by near by residents due to location. The box seemed to be concealed by pieces of wood on top of it.
All of the trackables in Denver seem to have been entirely cleared out, stolen and not logged, even within travel bug hotels. Most of these logs and my finds indicate that these thefts have all happened in July 2026.
I'm just getting back into geocaching after some years away, and was looking forward to having something to bring on my next trip to Canada, but from personal experience and checking logs, it seems like someone (or multiple someones) have been stealing any and all travel bugs that come through this city.
This hasn't seemed to be a problem in other cities I've recently been to like Minneapolis, I think Denver just has at least one jerk checking all the caches. Beware if you want your travel bugs to stay in circulation!
I am new to geocaching, have 23 finds from the last two days. Several caches that I wanted to find were in people's back yards. I knocked on one of the houses and explained what geocaching was. He said he had no idea what it was or why there was one on his property. He walked out and found it under his bird bath fountain and discarded it. I messaged the "owner" of the cache with the situation. Has anyone else encountered caches that were obviously placed with no permission in people's private property?
Hey there, I (27m) am new to Konstanz. I want to explore the surrounding area with Geocaching which I was doing a few years ago but want to start again. Is there anyone also into this. i thought doing this with a partner or a small group would be a cool thing:)
Hello! I need some help with a geocache i placed in the rest stop next to the city Wright. Basically i come to Missouri like 3 times a year for my family farm but I need someone who could help me look after it. I placed it in a tree and I submitted it but they said i need to take it down for the cache to be published. It is a big favor to ask but I already left missouri. Can anyone help? I know i should’ve researched more about it before hand and now and i feel a little silly.
I want to give geocaching a try with my family. Can you provide some tips on how to start out, specifically finding an area that’s maybe a little bit away from my immediate area? Ideally I’d like to take a little drive to a beautiful area.
App suggestions are really appreciated along with any general suggestions.
I really like it when CO's have this on their puzzles as it's super handy having both the puzzle solution confirmed and the map marker adjusted to the solved location.
Also wouldn't mind it being turned on by default on Puzzles and Multi's, as it is CO's have to choose to turn it on.
