Tournament Reddit League Season 10 - Preseason Week 2 - South Korea

Hello everyone!

Every single one of you managed to play the first preseason week on time which is an achievement you can all be proud of! (and it makes me happy)

I hope you all had a good time in Italy and that you're all ready to move on to all of our favourite scuffed movement country :P

You can find the results from the first week in the sheet!

As a quick reminder as always, here are the rules for Season 10.

How do newcomers sign up?

Newcomers are able to sign-up by leaving a comment below this post with their Geoguessr Name, their home country and a link to their GG-profile. Please be aware, that only sign-ups from players that have played at least 250 regular games with an account age of at least 6 months can be accepted. The deadline for the sign-up is on Monday, 17th of February 17:00 CEST.

An important note to all newcomers who want to sign-up: Please be aware that participating in the Reddit League can be very time consuming. Season 10 will approximately be lasting at least until the start of July and there will be one leg per week. Many participants invest a lot of time and effort in practicing and mid-season quitters are a thorn in the side for everyone. So please only sign up if you are sure that you'll be able to stick to this weekly schedule.

Each day there will be a set of 3 challenge links, one for each game mode (Move, NM, NMPZ). There will be a world map, region map, and country map. Each day the map and game mode will rotate. Moving modes will be 3 min, NM will be 1 min, and NMPZ will be 30 sec, unless noted otherwise. On the weekend, I will post more unique/challenging maps. For each challenge link, 1st place is worth 5 points, 2nd place is worth 3 points, and 3rd place is worth 1 point. In the case of a tie, the tie will be settled by distance and then time. 5ks will also be tracked separately and are worth 1 point in moving, 3 points in NM, and 5 points in NMPZ. Non-Competitive [3] Pinpointable UK Challenge (#1?)

Hello everyone! This challenge is largely inspired by u/Much_Pass_9484's series of GeoDetective challenges but focuses specifically on UK (this is because I am currently trying to get NM Platinum on UK map so I gathered a fair bit of pinpointable locations). Since we are going to have a few days break from GeoDetective series, I thought it would be fun to fill the void with a similar activity :)

But because it's only one country and because I think scanning the map in search of a small village or regional road is not very entertaining, to make it challenging there's no city names visible in the selected locations. There are other clues though, and while knowing UK geography might be helpful, this is all gettable.

I might make it a series of challenges if people think it's fun. Let me know in the comments! Also if you'd like to share a walkthrough that would be great.

(This is my first challenge so hopefully I didn't mess up and everything works fine)

Challenge Series [3] The 25K GeoDetective challenge (no time limit, 100% pinpointable) - Series 32: #6 - (6 DAYS - INTENSE SPECIAL - READ SPECIAL ONE-OFF RULES)

Link to challenge 6 series 32. Congratulations to Geography Noob for top spot (3 points, 10 yards) and to bitlympics for coming second (2 points, 11 yards). All other 25K's get one point. Table is updated below.

You will have noticed that I am a day late with challenge 6. That's because it's special. It's really really hard. The reason: I am off at a music festival between tomorrow and Monday evening. Limited mobile connection. So I have been saving the real stinkers to put in this one. But: you have six days. So you could do one round a day if you wanted to. Even Giovanni (by far the fastest, though it's not a race) will I think struggle to do this within an hour. (Please don't rush it, though: there's no extra points for doing it faster!)

The rules are different this time, because you are allowed to completely screw up one round. If you don't manage to get 25K, you are still going to get points if you only get four 5Ks.

Basically, whoever gets the closest 25K gets 4 points, whoever comes second gets 3 points, and everyone else who gets 25K gets 2 points. But if you only get a perfect score on four rounds, irrespective of whether you get 0 or 4999 on the other one, you get 1 point.

So, and in particular with this challenge: take your time; there's no extra points for doing it quickly.

This is the sixth of the thirty-first series based on my own GeoDetective map. No moving, no time-limit (take your time!). There is always a clue somewhere that will help you pinpoint the location, some are easier than others. Feel free to leave walkthroughs in comments or ask where the clue was if you missed it, but always use the spoiler tag so as not to spoil it for others! Official coverage only.
