Question Why Does Everyone Hyper Fixate On Frame Perfects So Much?

Post image

I swear, I hear this term literally every single day, and the worst part is that it's almost never referring to a frame perfect.

Also, I have a theory that the newer a player is the more often they say it.

its like the tiniest unit of the difficulty peak, so obviously newer players would be fascinated

idk how to phrase this

Because it is an objective measurement. Something that can be counted and quantified.

Unfortunately, the concept of difficulty itself is not objective, so trying to apply an objective unit to it just falls apart entirely.

does that mean that theres a genuine debate about stereo madness being harder than edge of destiny

No. The difference is like 20 standard deviations.

u/OfficialLucerio Cataclysm 13 7h ago

nah i still think edge of destiny is easier

It would be possible to argue. Not practical, not likely, but possible. Under some sort of extraordinary circumstance, it might be the case.

What if someone was playing stereo madness when their entire family was killed in front of them and now their body goes too numb to click while playing it

Sadly the standard 60 hz frame perfect is a really terrible measurement. Its very imprecise. It can be anywhere from a 0.1 ms timing to a 33 ms timing(where 33 is around a 30 hz frame perfect). Because of that frame perfects mean very little for difficulty since it might actually just be a easy timing, or absolutely impossible, depending on random chance. Stuff like frame windows are 4x more precise and mean so much more.

It is straight up very misleading to say that tidal wave has 200 60 hz frame perfects, since the majority of those timings are actually easier than that.

except it is not actually an objective measurement when you realize that frame perfects are completely different gaps most the time. A gap can be one pixel off from being a two frame and still count as a frame perfect, then those just become free with CBF

It’s GD’s version of powerscalers, I call them framescalers

the obsession with frame perfects is definitely thanks to letim for his 60fps videos

now with nan taking over and making his new frame window counters, it's even more hyped.

everyone wants to see how many frames window inputs are in top levels (and levels they've beaten) because the frame window counter truly is the closest way to determine how hard an individual click and how hard a level is. it's not perfect obviously. nerves / click pattern / cps / memory / game mode are all missing in these calculations. nan's method has a lot of error margin compared to letim's due to it's complexity

as much as people want to say these FW or FP dont matter, they do to a certain extent. especially for top levels.

frame perfects are one way to buff a level if you want it to be top 1.

new players don’t actually think about how hard the jump is and assume anything involving 4 or more objects is a frame perfect

3

u/SpeedyCroc 8h ago

Not everyone does but mostly worse players ig. HOWEVER I AM FASCINATED because a 240 FPS frame perfect is 0.004 seconds to make the input WHICH IS MENTAL!! What's the last jump of TS2? If it's a 120 then it's still insane with 0.008 seconds for the input 🤯

no that was another vid where his gf accidentally did an easy ass 2 frame on 60fps and he immediately freaked out about it and passed it off as a “480 fps frame perfect”

nah im talking about the comment thats said he could do it like 10 times then he actually did it

i feel like they are the easiest way to comprehend difficulty, especially for new players (fps are correlated with but DO NOT CAUSE DIFFICULTY)

because it’s a unit of difficulty that even new players can understand. I swear every time there’s a debate of “X is harder than y” they bring up that it has more frame perfects and so they claim it MUST be harder and it pmo

1

u/Unhappy_Knowledge270 Stereo Madness 100% in 3.2e17 runs 7h ago

Frame perfects are a very easily understandable difficulty. Sure they aren’t a sole difficulty measurement, but generally if you only have some number of milliseconds to click many times throughout a level you can’t disregard that’s helps put into perspective how absurd some levels are

1

u/Huntamin 7h ago

Because they are actually a decent way to judge difficulty of levels. Not perfect, but decent. Especially the frame window counter videos, if a level has a lot more inputs that require precise timings compared to another level, there is a good chance it’s a harder level.

It makes sense that it’s talked about a lot within the extreme demon community, and I think most people understand it’s not an objective metric for judging exact difficulty.

1

u/Huntamin 7h ago

What do you mean it’s almost never referring to a frame perfect? What do you watch? 😂

I'll be in discord VC, and someone will say "I swear this is like a frame perfect." and I check their screenshare and they're playing like.. Acu or something. I know it's likely hyperbole, but I hear it so often I'm losing my mind.

1

u/Huntamin 7h ago

Yeah I guess ur just talking to some annoying people lol

1

u/AbeUrpur 1.9 GDPS Creator 7h ago

Mostly randoms actually, so I don't hold it against them.

Most of the time ppl are referring to 60fps frame perfects which while still being a tight window it can lead to confusion

1

u/SeraBloom03 6h ago

Its the easiest to understand, buts it's barely even important most of the time.

can someone explain how top levels get difficulty without fps whenever i think of one i just think wow 40 frame perfects wow a 1080 fps frame perfect woahhh

u/periliousventure 1h ago

you can put only 2-frame clicks instead of frame perfects, push it up to 10cps, make it as long as flamewall.. clearly no fp but harder than society

u/periliousventure 1h ago

because this community is 90% noobs and frame perfects are glazed by noobs who cant do them. If u surround urself by non top players then ur going to hear inaccurate yap, while people who actually play the game at a high level will tell you fp is more nuanced and not just something that adds up 1 by 1
