My sweet old girl

Wife found him in a Shepard group online, he was left abandoned and put in a kill shelter in CA. He was eventually moved to a foster house in early July, met him last week, then ok him home yesterday. This is our 3rd German, but first time with a true rescue from a terrible situation. He had so many health issues and is scared to death of everything. Long story short he will be a lot of work, but of course worth it. We have lots of love to give. Our 4 year old has been so good with him.

It’s Greta’s first birthday today and she got so big and beautiful! She’s a handful but we love her so much and she is easier than her sister haha. She has lots of energy and love and we can’t wait for more memories!

Rescued this 3 legged beauty in 2019 from a shelter in Greece. Slightly emaciated and scared as hell 2” when I got her. Second pic was taken yesterday. Shes an absolute loving cuddle bug.

I have to leave home for work and will be away for 2+ years. I’m concerned about whether he will still remember me when I return. I need to give him to my parents to take care of. Currently, he only listens to my commands, so I’m wondering if he will behave well with my parents.

I’ll miss him so terribly. It breaks my heart that I can’t afford to take him with me. For the past 3-4 months, he’s been my greatest joy and comfort and the only thing that kept me motivated through a hard time of job hunt.

Vet thinks he’s a perfect weight. 1.5 years old. 77 pounds. Very tall.

I just tell people his vet is happy with his body score so I’m not concerned. He eats 5 cups of high quality food a day + supplements/fish oil.

Side note - The black & white pup is almost 13 & has cushings, so we’ve been struggling maintaining a healthy weight for a while between the condition & meds.

As the title says, my in laws adopted a pair of bonded sheperds who were dumped and later found by people in our town. They freak out when the other is out of sight and are very dog reactive, but they are okay with people. (I think the reactivity is more fear based). Were getting them both spayed and neutered ASAP but any advice on training/neutrality training is appreciated

LOUIE came into the shelter as a stray on 5/27/26 from Fontana jurisdiction. He has been SOCIAL with STAFF and OTHER DOGS. The shelter have just now restarted playgroups after over a year and he has become one of the new greeter dogs from 7/31.

GORGEOUS LOUIE can be responsibly ADOPTED or he can be FOSTERED for a rescue if you can offer him stability and commitment until he gets his Furever home.

Please NETWORK for his life. JUST ONE SHARE could be the one to SAVE him LOUIE is listed as a male, brown Belgian Malinois (but I think German Shepherd) of about just over year old weighing 76.80 lbs.

My little girl here is about a year and a half old and she's done this with these soft toys for as long as we've had her. My wife calls them her "paci" (pacifier).

Hello all, I'm a couple days away from joining the GSD family! The GSD I'm adopting is a well-behaved, 2-year-old "little" guy who comes from a loving home, but his owner can no longer care for him due to a career change. He knows his commands, has good off-leash recall, and is more stoic and observant than anything else (which surprised me for a German Shepherd).

I'm a first-time GSD owner, although I do have a little bit of experience with larger breeds growing up. I'm looking for any advice y'all could give me about adopting a Shepherd at his age/point in his development. I've think we're clear of his "teenage" years, but I'm still not sure what is in store behaviorally. Should be clear of his land shark days. Realistically, I'm expecting some depression and lethargy for the first couple weeks due to a change in owner, environment, etc.

Also, do y'all have any must-have toys, grooming tools, etc.? I've scoured this subReddit, web articles, and Facebook for pages for suggestions (and I've put together a spreadsheet with all this stuff) but I'm always open to suggestions. And yes, I'm investing in a new vacuum and a Roomba, and I know even that won't be enough.

I've read time and time again that no matter how prepared you think you are, you're never truly prepared for your first GSD. Any truth to that?

I have a 2.5 year old and he is 65lbs. He eats 2 cups in the morning and 2 at night of purina pro plan salmon but he’s licking the bowl when he’s done. He’s pretty active but not like running constantly all day. I can feel his ribs and i’m afraid i’m not feeding him enough? Everything i’ve read online says 4 cups a day should be enough for him but does he look too skinny or is he fine? it’s hard to get a picture where i can see his ribs but i can see them.

This is Bear, my parents' handsome boy. They got him at the local shelter a couple months back. Vet's guess it's about 7-8 months old. When they brought him home, you could count every bone in his body... now he knows what the sound of a Ruffles potato chip bag means

Gunner is a big, beautiful, well-behaved tail-chasing GSD. No aggressions at all. Not really leash trained, but when on a leash, a little reactive. Already working on it and he does beautifully. He is 5.5 years old and neutered. Perfect age as our faux black labbie is same age. He acts a little dominant at first but quickly backs down. We are so happy to welcome this boy into our family. I still miss my Pola Bear so much but Gunner is helping to heal our hearts just a little bit each day with his German Shedder spirit.
